Pavano said he doesn't hold "any grudges" but also noted, "When you're down, you expect your organization to pick you up, not kick you when you're down. I've had to pick myself up quite a few times the last four years," according to a report. |

Please tell me you don't pity this lazy freeloader. Listen, the guy is a bona fide bum, he was given the benefit of the doubt a few times but the last injury he had was because of stupidity and his teammates gave it to him, they just had enough of his laziness. Hold any grudges??? guinea please...... he should cease with trying to shift the blame on the Yankees. |

Jeter who I like....is a lousy captain.
You need someone who is vocal and will put a slacker in his place.. Then again he did call out Cano, but I don't know what goes on behind the pinstripe walls. They say Posada is good a lighting a fire. |

I don't mind him. He's a local kid. I think it sucks that he went to New York as a Red Sox fan growing up but then again, he would have made significantly less money in other places so it's hard to dislike him IMO.

Kevin Youkilis signs for four years, $41 million.
Sox, Youkilis agree on long-term extension - Extra Bases - Red Sox blog The beauty is that his numbers may actually be better than Mark "HOMOBOY" Teixeira's. |

Youkilis had a career year last year. It would be silly for us to expect those kinds of numbers over the next four or five (remember the option) years.
He's a gold glove defender at first base though with an excellent batting eye, so I'll always love having Youk around, especially at this -- very fair -- price. |

In other baseball news, yesterday I bought four tickets to each of the July 31/Aug 1 Sox/O's games in Baltimore.
It's friggin cheaper to take a road trip and pay for gas and a hotel than it is to buy Fenway tickets from a sonofabitch "ticket broker." WOO HOO, FENWAY SOUTH! ![]() |

Braves eyeing returns for Glavine, Jones
Associated Press ATLANTA -- The Braves will wait for Tom Glavine to meet with doctors next week before deciding whether to offer a one-year contract, and they are mulling whether to sign Andruw Jones. Glavine made just 13 starts before season-ending elbow surgery and has not thrown off a mound since. The 305-game winner, who turns 43 in March, went 2-4 with a 5.56 ERA in his next season back with the Braves since 2002. Jones Glavine "Our conversations with Tommy are that once he gets to the next step, and he's going to see the doctor next week, then we'll sit down with him," general manager Frank Wren said Friday. Jones won 10 Gold Gloves as the Braves' center fielder before signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 2008 season. After reporting to spring training overweight, Jones underwent knee surgery in May, and hit a career-low .158 with three homers, 14 RBIs and 76 strikeouts in 209 at-bats. Unable to trade Jones, the Dodgers released him Thursday and owe him $22.1 million. Atlanta could sign him for the $400,000 minimum. "I want to discuss it a little more internally to determine which direction we want to go," Wren said. Atlanta's outfield currently includes right fielder Jeff Francoeur, center fielder Josh Anderson, reserve Gregor Blanco and left fielder Matt Diaz, who agreed Thursday to a one-year contract worth $1,237,500, a deal the Braves announced Friday. Francoeur filed for arbitration along with closer Mike Gonzalez, first baseman Casey Kotchman, second baseman Kelly Johnson. Players and clubs swap proposed arbitration figures on Tuesday, with hearings set for next month. Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press |

Andy Pettitte to sign one-year deal with Yankees according to sources
BY JOHN HARPER DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Monday, January 26th 2009, 2:12 PM Antonelli/News The Yankees are closing in on deal to bring Andy Pettitte back to the Bronx for one last season in pinstripes. It made too much sense all along for them not to do it, and finally the Yankees and Andy Pettitte have essentially agreed on a one-year deal that will put him in pinstripes again this season. Final details are still being worked out, according to two baseball sources, but Pettitte will apparently accept a base salary between $5-6 million, with innings-pitched and days-on-the-roster incentives that could raise the value of the contract to $12 million. Pettitte had turned down the Yankees' offer of a flat $10 million for the season, but GM Brian Cashman had maintained a dialogue throughout the winter with the lefthanders agents, Randy and Alan Hendricks. Pettitte earned $16 million last season when he went 14-14 with a 4.54 ERA and finished poorly, going 2-7 over the final six weeks of the season while apparently dealing with a sore shoulder. Pettitte's signing fills out a potentially dominating rotation that also includes CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Chien-Ming Wang and Joba Chamberlain. It also gives the Yankees the option of moving Chamberlain back to the bullpen and using one of their young starters, such as Phil Hughes, in the rotation. With Bill Madden |
