overrated? maybe, but there are very few teams right now that have a quarterback who will be with them in ten years and play at a pro bowl level.

the steelers, giants, chargers, falcons, ravens are the only teams i can think of that have quarterbacks young enough and good enough to still be with the team in 10 years. and that is being generous with the falcons and ravens because those guys have only had one year. lots and lots of money and draft picks get wasted searching for what Jay Cutler brings to the table.

I just heard on the news Cutler is going to the Chicago Bears, not sure what the Broncos are getting for the trade.

"Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that the Chicago Bears have sent two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and quarterback Kyle Orton to the Broncos for quarterback Jay Cutler and a fifth-round draft pick.

The Bears held the 18th pick in the first round of the draft.

Per NFLPA records, Orton is signed through 2009, at a base salary of $995,000."

No I'm not kidding either!

Good for the Bears! They could use a good qb after the suck that has been Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman.

Maybe Simms will finally get his chance now. You KNOW McDaniels is not gonna start Orton.

UPDATE: John Clayton of ESPN.com says that the deal involves the Broncos getting Orton and two first-round picks, and the Bears getting Cutler and a third-round pick.

SECOND UPDATE: Glazer now reports that it’s two first-round picks and Orton for Cutler and a five.

THIRD UPDATE: NFL.com reports that the Bears are giving up two first-rounder, a third-rounder, and Orton for only Cutler

The Jets need a QB but they wanted 2 draft picks.

The Jets first round draft picks always bomb so that wouldn't be a huge loss.

Up until the last 3-4 weeks they had the number 3 pass defense.

There Run D was horrible.

The Bears overpayed for Cutler, but this makes them a lot better. With Forte and Cutler, all they need is a decent receiver to contend for the NFC Championship. On the other side, though, iot will be interesting to see how good Cutler does without a solid #1 receiver.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Grossman (especially) & Orton were terrible, just terrible & painful to watch. I'm interested to see what our receivers can do with a quaterback that doesn't suck.

I think the bears overpaid too, giving up those 1st round draft picks for Cutler. I do agree that both Grossman & Orton were not very good, but the bears could have probably picked up a good QB without sacrificing so much. For some reason I just don't see Cutler as "the guy". Only time will tell though. For the record, I never though Eli Manning was "the guy" and he certainly proved me wrong.

Agree somewhat. I think most quaterbacks can be pretty good given a good O line that can protect him and give him time to throw.

he can't do shit without a good receiver, and he is really good at throwing interceptions!

No kidding! He's a Favre replica.

I wonder how much he bitches and moans when his numbers go down. Bears are a running team and unless they change the team to conform to Cutler, he won't be throwing as much.

I still don't think Eli is the man. He had 2 good games in the playoffs last year and I still would give all of the credit to that defense.

I think some people here are letting their personal feelings about Jay Cutler cloud the facts here. He's a HUGE improvement at QB for the Bears and probably the best QB they've landed in 30 or 40 years. The Bears were already a playoff contender with their defense, and now they are adding a Pro Bowl QB to the offense.

I don't get these people saying the Broncos got the better of this trade. The NFL draft is a hit or miss. 50% of players drafted don't amount to shit.
