you cannot delete a thread, so if you try and delete your post which is the first post of the thread it will not allow you to, but you can edit and delete you own posts by clicking the "edit" button in the lower right corner of the post. however you can only edit/delete your own post within the first 24 hours.

please don't ask me to explain why the board is set this way, do a search as I have explained it before.
