BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS
High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com
I just became a mod recently, and I can't speak for other mods, but I am not about to go on a banning rampage just because i personally don't like some people's attitudes. I'm sure there are those on here who cant stand me either. oh well.

I have quietly let one or two members know they've got to tone things down in some of the forums here, but I am not very confrontational and historically, these "troublemakers" or whatever you wanna call them have been warned, banned for a few days and then they're back on with their b.s. If that is the way things are run here, who am i to come in, brand new, and clean house to my liking when the senior mods haven't done it to that extent? I agree with some of them who have said that doing such a thing defeats the whole purpose of "free speech".

As far as participating, yeah, some mods do. and I admit I have occasionally participated in the shenanigans myself, but rarely if ever have I told a new member their question is dumb or "go do a search!", etc. If anything I will do the search for them and post the links - chances are they dont even know HOW to search on the forums yet.

The ones who come on here (noobs) and act like they deserve 100% personal attention and get all prima dona when their questions are not answered right away and in excruciating detail - those people i have no patience for and don't even bother with them (not now and not in the past).

As for the quality of the forums and the mods in general, a lot of people on this site helped me out selflessly when i first joined, and there is no way to repay them for their time and attention in doing something, for no money or recognition other than the occasional thank you. This site helped get me through a rough spot in my life, and as much as I am annoyed by some of the newer members, it is my little dysfunctional family on the internet.

I usually just shrug and look away and pretend I'm not related when one of my jackass "counsins" says or does something retarded on here.

I can remember coming in here under a different user name and ask a "noobie question" and I promptly had my ass reamed by the so called saintly veterans.
It wasn't really a dumb question but something that most people can't agree with.

I have never made fun of a person with a training question and that "go do a search" gets me sick, look back and you'll notice I do a search for them also, in fact look at my links below in my sig.
I agree with what you wrote GG.

There just needs t obe a balance here.
It can't be too wild and it can't be too dull.
I have been to other forums and I think this one is the best, or maybe just home.

I don't want to be critical Motor but a couple of threads that you started would be erased in other forums, trust me.
I have made quite a few questionable threads......

This post seems like it was directed mostly at my comments. So, I'll start from near the bottom of your post.

I have found the quality of help and information here to be outstanding. I feel so lucky to have had the personal attention of the mod that helped me in the beginning, and still today. Believe me, I let her know how much I appreciate it every chance I get.

I think the quality of the serious forums is pretty good. There is a ton of good information there and save for an occaisonal stupid thread, I visit the content daily. I'm still amazed when the mods here continue to answer the same mundane questions over and over with great detail and understanding for the new posters. It bores me to even read the thread.

As far as banning people, like you said, it isn't really practical since they will be back with different usernames anyway. I just think the mods should band together and cut short all the bs threads. Nip it in the bud, delete ot posts and slams outside of general interest forums.

As far as participation, we are all human and like to have fun. You guys are volunteering your time. Again, treat the serious forums like they should be treated and horse around in the general interest forums.

Type of response you get depends on the subforum in which you post your query.

"Again, treat the serious forums like they should be treated and horse around in the general interest forums."

Health is a general interest forum.

I do not advise horsing around in it.

I'd consider health a serious forum. I didn't place it in general interist. Come on, you know my health problems, that's serious stuff to me

here is what prompted this thread...

http://www.ironmagazineforums.com/sh...ad.php?t=70165 (NO-Xplode first impression)

read in its entirety... even though some responses were great, the thread had the potential to go to shit quick so I just stopped posting in it

To be fair, i think you over reacted to camaro's response. you didn't have to get all foul-mouthed. He didn't use any profanity, just stated an opinion, maybe a little rudely but still not vulgar.

That wasn't even the thread i was thinking about when you posted this, and I hadn't even seen this one.

While I still hold on to my feeling that a handful of members here do make newcomers feel unwelcome and dumb, in that particular thread that you posted YOU were the one out of line. Sorry. just the way i see it, family or not.

This is not a smiley: "If I had half a brain? HAHAHAHAHA I asked a fucking question idiot. Get off Rob;s cock long enough to answer things nicely rather than being a condescending sarcastic prick."

no. like i said, maybe he was rude, but he wasn't vulgar/profane. You're the one that took it south.

and i can't speak for him but it seemed more like a general comment, "if you (anyone) has half a brain you would buy ...."

like saying "if you know anything about the restaurant industry, you know never to believe that your hamburger at Outback* is quality, grass fed beef, no matter what the ad says."

"you" being people in general.

*just used as an example - i have no clue.

Camaro was wrong also, saying he has half a brain was wrong. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

i know he was - rude at least. But like you said, 2 wrongs don't make a right. and my bro could have handled things differently rather than going all truck-driver on him.
