Newbie to supplements...Open to criticisms
Hey guys, Im new to this forum and in search of some info...Here is my current "supplement stack" Any suggestions, criticisms, or ideas are greatly appreciated.
First, heres a bit about me. I am 33 y.o. male, have trained pretty regularly most of my life, a bit soft, 18% bodyfat, 225lbs, 6' ,training 5 days a week. Morning run or biking, evening resistance training. In the last two weeks have really cleaned up my diet, consisting of 5 meals a day of whole foods, all natural, if it hasnt been around for at least 200 years I dont eat it. Last week got my family Doctor to prescribe me test cyp, i am doing 400mg a week, along with cem products. I have never really used supplements much except 15yrs ago when I played football in college, and I now things have changed alot. Here is my current supplement stack... Nitro Core 24 upon waking, post workout and before bedtime, 1 scoop. Super Pump 250 pre-workout. Animal pack upon waking and post workout. I am also using CEM products "Stane", and their "Thermo Plus Kit" which is cle, keto, and t3. So far I feel reall good. My goal is to really tighten up, I am satisfied where I am muscle wise, sure everyone wants more, but primarily I want to drop Bf asap...any feedback is appreciated. MODS... I hope I posted this in the right place, if not, excuse my ignorance. THANKS!!! |

IMO you are wasting your money. Supplement essential fatties and protien powder, maybe a multi depending on your diet. The rest is hard work. Lift weights at higher intensities and use intervals a couple times a week or mix the two. Long, slow cardio aint gonna do it.

Vilbaugh speaks the truth. Read the link in my sig on getting started, you'll likely find much in there that you can use to fine-tune your approach.
Now where did you find a doc who would write you a scrip for 400mg of test cyp per week???
Wondering where to start? Confused? This will get you started.

OP, the stuff beyond the supplements are not supplements. if you are looking to tighten up, dont you think the diet and the test will do it? the thermo plus kit is overkill, and potentially dangerous. |

First off thanks for EVERYONES input, whether I agree, disagree or whatever. I am in South Florida part of the time and in Central KY. There are tons of HRT clinics and Doc's down here. I did forget to mention I am also taking 2 ius of Serono HGH before bedtime.
I agree long slow cardio will not do it, but it is a part of my routine that I enjoy, and do not feel that it is hurting my current program. I also agree that high intensity workouts with compound movements are best, but I wasn't really lloking for workout info, I am quite satisfied with my current plan and totally agree intensity is key.... Now back to my question, I was only sincerely looking into supplement suggestions and some ideas to help "tune" up my current program, thats what I was looking for... BRICKLAYER...Ever heard, if you cant say something nice, dont say it at all...
I have read several posts on here and noticed more so than not, you are usually ridiculing, complaining or whining... For example, your negative comments to a post regarding VPXs Meltdown, your reference to stupid 18-21 year olds regarding using prohormones- yet back in April you posted asking what kind of gains to expect with prohormones for yourself (according to your profile, you are 23).. My post didnt ask or make any reference to what should happen to my Dr, why I am on 400mg/weekly, or any other assinine assumption. I dont know if you are just a lonely, insecure, opinionated person or what, but if you cant be productive to the forum, why not just GO AWAY!! The world doesnt need any more BITCHES!!! I apologize for being a DICK to the rest of our Forum community, but do some of you people just not get it, or understand the reason behind Forums, Topics, and Sub-Topics? Get a life and be productive and quit your bitching, moaning, and complaining or GO AWAY.... Mods, sorry for the rant, but IDIOTS with constant negative comments ruin good forums that are useful in so many ways!!! Last edited by KyJef : 08-23-2009 at 05:43 PM. Reason: Edited to add more pertinent info |

you actually didnt offer anything but unwarranted criticism. everyone needs to tone down the attitudes, and actually try to help someone.

Bricklayer, I do agree that with a public forum that anyone can give an opinion different than mine and if you will reread my earlier post, you will find I already stated that, and am open to hearing and debating it, as that is how we all become more educated, and productive in society. My point as well as others is, if you dont offer something of use, STFU!

many supplements are a waste, the goal should be to find those that arent, not dismiss the entire industry.

Supps
Good point everyone, I did totally overlook EFAs and have started them today, taking 1gram 3x a day. I also have at least one fish meal a day, and am doing 1800-2000 calories a day. 250grams of multi-species proteins, 80-90 grams of fat coming from whole foods, not including EFA supplement, and 30-40 grams of carbs, carbs are primarily used post workout- consumed with protein.
I apologize for not including this info in the OP, as I am sure it would have been more helpful. I chose Superpump 250, because of the multitude of ingredients, and convenience of not having to take each supplement individually. Not for the "bicep in a can." The whole point of my OP was exactly this, to get feedback on what I am overlooking, forgetting, or for where I just simply lack the knowledge. Thanks everyone. Please feel free to continue to advise, criticize or suggest anything. If I agree I will use it and find a place for it, if I dont agree I will be glad to openly debate/discuss my opinion. THANKS AGAIN, EVERYONE!!! |

Kyjef, for EFAs I'd suggest getting in at least 10 grams of fish oil daily. I'm not sure what type of EFA you are taking currently.
Wondering where to start? Confused? This will get you started.

Thanks Built, I am doing fish oils, I will up them to 10 grams a day, I also figured I am getting 3-4 grams a day in my diet, should I still supplement with another 10 grams additionally?
Thanks, I really really appreciate all of your help and time, |

Yeah, I'd still do the 10g. That only nets you 3g combined EPA/DHA
And you're welcome. ![]()

The '3g' refers to the Total EPA and DHA. If you look on the front of the package, it'll show '1000mg' typically. This refers to the total capsule, not the actual amount of the essential fatty acids. If you then flip it to the nutrition label, you'll see the amount of EPA/DHA will be somewhere around 300mg per capsule. By taking 10grams/10 capsules, you end up with the goal amount of 3000mg of total EPA/DHA.
These figures vary based on company, but these values are a pretty good guideline. Ultimately, your goal is to take in 3000mg (3g) of Total EPA/DHA.

EFAs
Thanks I appreciate the help. I am taking Vital Oils Pharmaceutical Grade, heres their label, as I copied from their website, they are actuaclly FDA inspected according to the label. One of my clients is a Cardiologist and recommended this brand specifically because of the quality.

You bet. That would be three "servings", or six caps.
