Creatine - can other foods/liquids hinder its effects?

I was wondering if there are any foods/liquids/nutrients/other supplements that can interfere with the absorption of creatine? For instance, with ZMA, they suggest not taking it with calcium in your system, as it blocks zinc absorption.

Training the mind is equally, if not more, important than training the body. If you can learn to transcend natural limitations, and force your mind into your muscle, your strength will know no bounds.

I operated under the belief, for the longest time, that caffeine hindered its effectiveness. Being a "serious" coffee drinker (as in drinking the good stuff on a regular basis), this worried me a great deal. Further research on my own tended to indicate that my belief was a fallacy; it seems that with sufficient fluid intake, creatine will work just fine. This is a major relief - not sure what I'd do if I couldn't have my couple of mugs of a nice single-origin bean

Primordial sells creatine- here's a quote from their website:

Creatine should always be taken with low caffeine or caffeine-free beverages*, such as water, fruit juice or Primordial Performance's Organic Vitaberry® mix.

Creatine does not stay stable for long in liquids, therefore it should always be consumed on the same day which it is prepared. Also, be sure to consume creatine with plenty of water.

*Taking high doses of caffeine (5 mg per kg body weight per day) at the same time as creatine negates the performance enhancing effects of creatine. Small amounts of caffeine (e.g., 1-2 cups of coffee) appear not to negatively influence creatine's effects.

I really haven't researched this but Eric is very knowledgeable, I don't think he would put this on one of his products if he hadn't done his homework.

Peace!

caffine is a diuretic. Therefore taking too much defeats the purpose of taking creatine.

I have taken creatine monohydrate(never any other form) on and off for a few years. I have never noticed a diiference absorption regardless of what I took with it. I take 5g on off days and 10g on traing days maybe that's the difference?

It's only a diuretic if you rarely drink it. Studies have shown that if you are a frequent drinker it ceases to act as a diuretic. At least that's what my Human Bio-Chemistry teacher told us......

Thumbs up

there is probably alot of truth to that. most substances lose some effect as people get used to them;but not knowing what anyones tolerence to caffine is it can make you lose water.I've also heard people say it decreases their appetite.Neither of these are beneficial to most people taking creatine supplements.
