    Cortisol ?

How can I reduce my cortisol levels? Ever since getting on birth control depo-provera I have slowly put on weight in just my abdominal area. I read that depo can cause you to gain on average 5 lbs per year and the weight gain is concentrated in the ab region and this has been attributed to an increased cortisol production when being on the birth control.

Is there a supplement that actually works that can help me get the cortisol level under control?

I've had two supplements recommended by a nutritionalists, but wanted to get your input on them:

Seriphous (PHOSPHORYLATED SERINE) by InterPlexus, Inc

    and
Relora-Plex by Douglas Labs (I can't post links, not enough posts yet)

    Thanks!

ps is a good choice. it can be found at a decent price.

lean xtreme from driven sports is probably the best option for cortisol in my opinion (biased may it be).

cortisol should not suppressed too low, and should not be done for more than a month or so at a time.

Meditation, exercise, and lifesytle changes are going to be your best option. Stress is the number one cause of high cortisol levels. So, attack the problem, not the symptom. Anyway, there is absolutly no legitimate research showing thta OTC cortisal blockers even work. I think you would be flushing your money down the drain.

Even the newest most powerful cortisol blockers being researched by scientist work only maginally, and carry a quite a few side effects with them. I can't link to the medical journal because you have to have an account to the American Scientific, but it explains in detail how the most respected experts on ageing have been fighting the problem with cortisal for years.
Cortisol is also one of the hormones that cause you to age faster. GH and stim-cells seems to be the only proven ways to off set the effects of cronic high cortisol levels, and even then you are still atacking the symptom and not the problem.

We are outdated machines struggling to function in a rapidly changing society. Cortisol kept you alive long enough to breed 5000 years ago. You needed the mechinisms that allowed you to be abservent of dagerous situations. In those times, just running fro,m the danger helped to matoblis the cortisl. Now when your boss rides yoru ass on a project, you sit in your chair with yoru soulders slumped and let the cortisol eat away at your body.

I am very seriosu when I say that meditation, exercise, and changes to your lifestyle are going ot be the only real option until scientist can devope a save and effective cortisol blocker.

Well said, Kel. When I initially read up on this, I didn't pay much attention to the issue of sides effects, and overall effectiveness.

I understand how it is related to stress, but this never was an issue until I got on the drug DP and it has become increasingly worse despite the interventions I have taken.

My goal is to counter the output that the depo has obviously caused. Not eliminate it or find some miracle weight loss supplement.

If you say OTC blockers are worthless, what medications should I look at that can be prescribed?

    Thanks for the help!
