Dicana from Thermolife – patent denied by Anthony Roberts
For those of you who keep up with the supplement industry, this post should be interesting. I’m not going to get into the specifics of the product in question (Dicana, from Thermolife), but I will say that the patent has been denied. I’ve been sitting on this information for awhile (shame on me), even though I know it would probably be of extreme interest to the message board denizens of Bodybuilding.com and many other sites. Currently, I believe that only BSN and Thermolife use the ingredient in their products (I’m of the understanding that Thermolife “licenses” their unpatented product to BSN, but I could be mistaken).
Because of the nature of the rejection, it seems highly unlikely that there will be a viable patent for this compound in Thermolife’s future. Frankly, the patent was rejected because, in laymens terms, somebody else clearly thought of it first. Below you will find the documents from the United States Patent Office. If you have any problems reading any of them, simply click on the document itself, and that will bring you to a full page view.
