    Out of date protein

    I have some protein powder in the cupboard and it is out of date by about 5 months is it ok to use still?

    It depends. Just because something is expired by a few months doesn't mean it's not good. I'd be much more concerned about protein that wasn't stored right or retained moisture so provided you kept it in a tightly sealed container in a dry cool place it should be okay. Not to scare you or anything though, I had a really bad experience once with expired protein where I got a horrific stomach ache for 5 hours but the protein I used was exposed to humidity and I really shouldn't have used it. Try a small amount first and see how you feel.

    I personally have had bad experiences with Muscle Tech Protein after it was opened and was not out of date. Like the other guy said try a small amount first becuase it could of retained moisture etc.

    Kk thanks for your posts, it's been kept in a tightly concealed container and seems to be ok, have ordered some whey which I normally take anyway now thanks again

    It all depends how you have stored the container, meaning if you are in warmer states then things get bad easily in that temperature. One time i took expired protein unknowingly and that messed up my stomach big time. I suggest pass on it.

    It may be OK if it has not been opened. If the seal is broken you should definitely bin it
