Works for me. I have a health plan.

Built, come on now. Do you know what the estimated cost for those pills are? Each person taking them adds over a $1,000 to an already out of control health care cost, and I cant; think of anyone who wouldn't benefit from fishoil.

My health plan is private. Public health care in Canada don't cover medication.

Whether it is public or private doesn't really matter. Your private rates go up as cost go up.

I'm not saying you shouldn't take advantage of it. Hell, the fish oil is probably one of the healthiest and safest products GlaxoSmithKline produces.

My point is that there isn't anything warranting the cost difference between Costco brand fish oil, and the ridiculously expensive prescription version. Lets see a study that GlaxoSmithKline's version is 10 times better, since it cost 10 times more.

If this is going to start becoming the norm, I think I would rather opt for some really cheap insurance that doesn't include prescription drugs. I don't want to be paying for somebody's overpriced fishoil.

Isn't this why McCain was trying to push the supplement bill - so we'd all be forced to buy our supplements from pharmaceutical companies?

But there are many fish oil supplements of great quality that are non-prescription, so why dwell on one that is? One can score 150 soft-gels of good grade fish oil with high DHA/EPA content for a mere $15.00-$20.00.

Because, you and I pay for it!

fish oil ethyl ester. if they want to alter fish oil and patent it, then the system supports it. can easily be replaced by a few quality fish oil pills though.

$120 for 60 1g caps. With insurance they cost me $40. I'm really concerned about the contaminants that are potentially found in OTC oil. Don't laugh but I've been taking GNC's, the Lovaza quality control is mainly what I'm paying the extra cash for.

McCain wanted to make all supplements prescription only. Could you imagine. We wouldn't be free to buy any vitamin shop products for example...Its a slippery slope many people arent smart enough to realize they are consenting to.

I don't agree with making fish oil a prescription, but a modified version that has prescription contents would fit the definition of requiring a script....but I don't think this is what is going on.
