Hey GOPRO! TO LOAD OR NOT TO LOAD?

Ok, I did a loading phase for Creatine and used it for 9 weeks. Then I went off of it for about 3 weeks, now I want to take it again but I was wondering if I should go through another loading phase or just start taking it right after I workout like usual?

    THANKS!

After being off for only 3 weeks a reload is not really necessary. However, you can maybe use 10 grams per day for a few days, then back off to 5 just to make sure...but like I said, a whole new load isn't necessary.

loading is a controversial issue anyway, there is no real evidence (that I know of) that can prove loading is necessary.

(if there is evidence, please post the url )

I believe DP posted that those who load get better gains, even though on paper its not needed/proven that I've seen.

Loading if nothing else will saturate your muscles with creatine more quickly. This will lead to feeling the effects sooner than if a gradual intake is used.

I have done it both ways. I say load! In this case though, it really isn't necessary b/c his muscles will still be fairly saturated after only 3 weeks off. He will just need to "top off his levels" like a half filled gas tank.

Even though i rarely use creatine, if i was to do a proper "cycle", if that's what you'd call it, i would load, but i wouldn't load the way the bottle tells you to.

2-4 days loading with say 10-15g a day would satisfy the task.

I have tried loading creatine before, and saw no benefit, maybe some people do benefit from it. I have always viewed it as a way for the supplement companies to get you to take more creatine.

During the middle of the night I will sleep.

I do heavy rows, and I squat, which for me is sufficient.

Should I do a loading phase?

Probably not. Everyone who sells creatine wants you to do a loading phase where you take 20 grams a day for the first 5 days. From their standpoint - the more you take - the more they sell. However, unless you are in a hurry to gain muscle mass loading is not necessary. Studies have shown that people who load have greater gains than people who take just 5 grams a day after the first 2 weeks. However, after 4 weeks both groups are at an equal level. So, all loading does is just get you to the same point 2 weeks faster. We don't think taking 100 grams in 1 week is worth it if all it does is shave 2 weeks off the process. In the end you are not going to have greater gains with loading.

Yup, I always get up at least once for a piss. I keep an already made drink in the fridge. Takes 2 seconds to slam it down...then back off to dreamland, growing as I go!

    GP,

For some reason, I've NEVER realized any gains from creatine. At first, I though it was because I'm a coffee drinker (mornings only)...but I read an article somewhere that said a cup or two in the mornings shouldn't have any negative effects on creatine?

I haven't been on creatine for well over a year. I just bought some and thought I'd give it one more try. Any suggestions at to the most effective creating "coctail"? 10 gram doses? Grape Juice? Dash of Ribose? Mixed w/ liquid amino fuel? Before and after workout?

The only thing I got up to do in the middle of the night is to take a piss. Of course, gopro is three times my size.

I've been using creatine on and off for seven years. Loading never really does help me much.

Well, there are some people out there that are "creatine non-resonders." However, it can also be in the brand you purchase, your method of use, or inconsistency of use.

For those that don't respond to regular creatine I recommend "titrated" creatine before giving up completely.

This is how you should use the creatine you have...

-days 1-7...5 grams 4 x per day mixed in 6 oz grape juice between meals (one dose should be after training)
-after day 7...5 g mixed in grape juice or protein carb drink right after workout and on non training days, 5 g first thing in the morning.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks for the info!!!

I almost bought IDS Creatine Tirtate from Fit-Body, but wasn't sure...didn't anything about it. And, I shyed away from cell-tech and poser-tech because of the amount of sugars.

Need to check with them to see if they will exchange the regular creatine that I just bought...

    Thanks Again!!!
