Dhea is a precursor to testosterone, which is a precursor to DHT, which can cause growth of the prostate (i.e.benign prostatic hyperplasia). However, I very much doubt that enough Dhea makes it through metabolism to have that effect.

It's never fun to hear, but you should have your prostate checked for sure. Do you drink any caffeine or any fluids close to bedtime? How frequent is "frequent"? More than once a night?

Not likely. I take 25 mg in the morning and 25 in the evening. Usually make one trip to the bathroom at night. I'm not far behind you in age. As someone stated, a trip to the doctor might be in order. As you age prostate enlargement is not uncommon. But, getting it checked is quick and painless (well kinda). Make an appointment with your doctor. Catching a problem early is always the thing to do. Good luck.

I might add that taking "Saw Palmetto" may help an enlarged prostate. See you local drug store or health food supplier. It's cheap....

I too take 100mg of DHEA 4weeks on 2 weeks off. When using DHEA I too have more than usual night time visits, but visit more during the day also.
    Always believe.

Could Dhea have a intracellular effect such as creatine, thereby making you hold more water than normal?

    How often is frequent?
Are you any for of HRT?
If not, good idea to get a PSA test and a hormone panel done at 60. Let a Doc who specializes in reading hormone panels take a look and not some GP who'll tell you that you are in "normal" ranges. Elevated estrogen levels can cause prostate issues.

Thing is in some DHEA can cause BPH issues with increased urination. Easy way to tell is to stop using the DHEA and see if the problem goes away.

I don't remember DHEA being a problem when I used dermacrine, but like Ryan said, if you stop using it you may find it to be the cause.

Seems an easy enough test for sure. Throw the saw palmetto in there too and find out if it stops. I don't get up to pee anymore than usual when I take it.

Dhea should be taken with anti-estrogen supplement.
