This was a great post by a member on another board on Better Protein Bars:
I was recently given a bag of better protein bars to sample out, and write an assessment on. I tried the protein pancakes last year (and have made them a staple since) and if the protein bars are anywhere as close to the pancakes in quality, they will also work my way into my routine.
There are alot of factors to keep in mind while assessing a one of a kind product (you actually make the bars yourself) like this, but I will try to do my best to rate them evenly with other products in the category (conventional bars)
Better Protein Bars.
Quality:10/10
Convenience:6/10
Taste:9/10
Other Protein Bars.
Quality:5/10
Convenience:10/10
Taste:6/10
Quality:As you can see this is one are where the better protein bars dont lack. Upon opening the bag of mixture, I could see the sliced almonds, full cranberries and raisin's easily. This alerted me to two things, real ingredients, and no short cuts in the manufacturing process. Both of which are a huge plus when compared to conventional bars.
Convenience: This is the one, AND ONLY, area where standard protein bars outperform (per se) Better protein bars. Standard bars come in individually wrapped plastic, pre-measured, and ready to go. With better protein bars you physically have to make them yourself, which could scare off the non-commit-ed trainer. BUTTTT and this is a big but, for people who are dieting, it will alow you to maintain some sanity, cause you could play with the ingredients on their own.
Taste: Now this is the biggest factor. Taste. If you dont like it, your not gonna look forward to eating it, and your not gonna get the results your looking for. Normal bars are dry, hard, and often times, close to expiration date. This leaves the consumer with a continuable questionable taste. Making the decision on a consistent brand often impossible. With the better protein bars, all those things are a thing of the past. You decide how juicy or dry you want your bar to be (just add more or less water) and the freshness/taste is always there.
Overall, I think these are gonna remain in my regimen. Good product Team NTBM!
what do you mean by making them yourself, do they sell them as a "kit"?
A kit is a good way of putting it. But the package comes with all of the dry ingredients you need to make 12 fresh homemade all natural protein bars. Everything is natural in them and can be substituted to fit into anyone macros.
