Question Glutamine powder your thoughts please

So after workouts I usually would use just protein powder, until after lifting weights my body would become sore. So I tried out Glutamine from GNC and the pain went away....

However I think I might have put on some pounds from it...

Does Glutamine increase weight if used with a protein shake using water?

Ok just a fyi in case I didn't mention it I have been out with an injury (calcaneus stress fracture and broken heel) for several months, but still lifting... So that right there might be the weight gain part, not getting cardio in etc...

I get about 4500 mg per serving (teaspoon) would it be wise to take this on days I don't lift weights? My container saws to mix 1 teaspoon into 4 to 8 ounces or water or beverage one hour before workout and a second serving immediately after (which I already do).

Besides protein, if you take it, is there anything else you take?

I don't like taking pre workout stuff such as Jack because I cannot use caffeine do to the medicine I take.
