If the optimum gainer your referring to is Serious Mass I would not take it, less than 20% of the calories are from protein. The best one I have seen is Ultimate Nutrition ISO Mass, However it is expensive and doesn't taste very good. I dont like buying powdered weight gainers so I make my own, currently I mix the following in a blender.
16 ounces of skim milk (You dont want the saturated fat in whole milk, we'll add good fat later)
2 scoops of protein powder (ON 100% casein, chocolate)
1 cup of maltodextrin (NOW carbogain, its only 14.99 for 8 lbs)
    2 jumbo raw eggs
    2 TBSP Olive oil
    1 bannana
This way is not only cheaper but tastes better and you get a lot more control of what it is your eating, this recipe gets 1300 calories and 100 grams of protein.
