    GAH! Im so confused... help!

I'm on a simple cardio/lifting routine. I'm looking to lose some more fat and get cut, and figured some supplements might help. Unfortunately, EVERY SINGLE PERSON I TALK TO HAS A DIFFERENT ANSWER! It's the same thing on the web, i see a ton of different websites offering what at first appear to be reviews of a product, but then at the end they say "buy from us now and save $10!" So much for an unbiased review.

I've seen Hydroxycut, Tribex 500, MD6, T2, etc, etc, etc....

Basically, im really confused. I have no idea what works (if indeed any of these things work, or if its all a scam), and whats safe. Like i said, everyone i talk to tells me something different. Some say that ephedra is the devil, and to stay away... some say there's nothing wrong with it.

Why isn't there any solid information out there? It's completely unnerving to a novice. :/

    Thanks!

    Its called marketing, bro.
Having experienced similar problems in the recent past, my advice would be to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Hang out here for a while and sooner or later DP,w8, Pfunk, m'main man AlBob (who sports a mean blouse, I hear) or somebody....maybe even Madge, will give you some solid advice.

    you might try reading this:

    http://www.ironmagazine.com/modules....article&sid=30

it's part 1 in a 3 part series written by Dr. Pain. he knows his stuff and these articles will be a good objective starting point.

i'm not sure people will ever agree completely but you have to start somewhere and the ads in the magazines will have you thinking you need hundreds of products.

Madge is here, with my latest formula of Palmolive! Now with even MORE moisturizing power, you thought it wasn't possible but here it is!

Anywho, supplements are a truly last resort IMO and for the most part, alot of marketing BS, I dont want to offend anyone but not all sales/marketing types even believe in the company they work for, its making a living. They aren't going to be in your face about not eating what you like to eat, and being on a strict diet, and how our magic product might give you that extra 5-10% helping hand, because then people would realize what a "waste" of money they were.

In my own experience with TwinLabs Ripped Fuel, only one of many products that "get you ripped", it didn't really do anything for me at all in the fat or energy department. One of the "active" ingredients is Ephedra, which does not a darn thing for me, I have tried EPHEDRINE years ago and that was a true energy boost, my favorite ephedrine juiced product was Ultimate Orange which truly DID give me a kick in the pants, then all the propoganda about ephedrine started coming out and people dumbed down thier formulas or moved to other compounds entirely. Most of this seems to have stemmed from people OVERDOSING on it like idiots, like the kid who though taking 75 pills was better than 2 or 3, I forget the exact dose but the, umm dumbass thought that was a good idea, and he died.

So I hate to break it to you, but diet is the key. I am doing stationary bike stuff right now, but I am a big fan of just plain old walking, if I do true cardio like hardcore biking for a half hour + then I lose size along with anything else. If your like me your not going to get ripped in weeks either, but you should get awesome results if your pretty well behaved diet/workout wise in 2-3 months. When I was regular with the stationary bike before I had no problem staying lean, I have a deskjob now which makes it all the more difficult.

There is tons of diet help on the site found by searching, or ask a topic and almost surely someone will post a couple links to old discussions for you. Unless your genetically gifted which I'm guessing not, it will take a little work. People who think they can pop a pill and eat twinkies and ice cream with it and get shredded, are just not going to make it without truly hardcore drugs, not OTC stuff.

If you like to walk, feel free to walk for 30-60 minutes if you like, it can be good for the brain too

    By the way, Welcome Monolith!
I have to agree with Mudge. Did I spell that right? Anyway, there are a lot of suppliments out there, most of which are a slight variation of the same base product. (i.e. "fat burners" or "weight gainers", etc.) After reading replys from some of the fellahs here, (who obviously have a great deal of experience in this game) and making myself slow down and use more common sense in my own consumer affairs, I have reached the conclusion that, for the most part, products that are labeled with "sexy" adjectives like 'ripped', 'animal', and/or 'crazy-freaky-massive-lean-turbo-sexy-perfect-god-like-you-can't-touch-this-back-that-thing-up- mamma' are generally overpriced crap. Besides, 85% of marketing is about figuring out what turns you on as a consumer, 10% is price and the remaining 5% is the actual effectiveness of the product. While it should be about delivered value, it is really about getting into your head...and your wallet.
    Keep serching, dude.
Yeah, M, Ripped Fuel doesn't make me energetic as much as it does pissed off/aggitated. Haven't lost jack sh#! while using it, in fact I've gained "weight".

Monolith, the fat burners can help you out in your quest to lose unwanted fat but don't be so quik to jump on the fat burning supplement band wagon. I say diet properly, hit the weights right, do little to no cardio and if you do cardio try and make it HIIT. Then once you have that stuff down you can use the fat burner to supplement your program.....but if you ask me you wont need it because once you get that stuff down you will see that you can do it without putting that stuff in your body and with out breaking the bank

Yeah, I agree with the Funkmeister.
I'm starting to think that fatburners are grossly overrated. For the average joe, anyway. Speaking of fat burners, check out the post by Chicken Daddy addresssing coffee drinkers/caffeine in the Diet section. It is very informative, and has made me re-think my use of fat burners.
As for the cardio...P-Funk might have a valid point (he really loves aerobics, its just that he can't dance very well in a tutu)

Totally agree with you.I thought the articles were really good and honest. When starting on supplements you might want to add one supplement at a time to see if it's working for you.If you add a bunch at once it's hard to tell if anyone is helping more than the other.
