    Insulin Spiking

The point of spiking insulin is to help shuttle creatine/protein into your muscles... that is, if you dont spike your insulin, not as much will be absorbed and used.

50% dextrose and 50% maltodextrin is recommended so that the simple carbs can act as an immediate shuttle to your muscles, and the complex carbs act as a longer lasting shuttle (as your muscles can only handle so much protein or creatine at one time).

Sound kind of right, so far?

Ok, so here's my question -
If the point of spiking insulin is just to have your body use smaller amounts of creatine and protein more efficiently, why not just use larger amounts of creatine or protein inefficiently, but without the insulin spike? Wouldnt the net result be the same?

So instead of having 40-50g of protein, 5-10g creatine, and 75-100g dextrose/maltodextrin in a post w/o shake... you'd have something like 40g protein, 10g creatine; then 45 mins later, youd have another... etc.

I know i'm missing something, but i did a search and couldnt really find an answer.

It's not the amount......................as you progressively take more, your body can process more. The point here is just what you stated. To drive it into muscles. Without the insulin help, alot would be wasted. (not driven into muscles)

right, so to compensate for what is wasted, you wait 30 or 45 mins and take more.

there is more waste, but no insulin spike.

    right?

Not without a sugar to spike it. But you can drink protein every 30 min and still not get it to where it needs to be.
