What are your thoughts on this. i think its got merrit. Bcaa's are a derivitive of protien. Am i nuts? I cant say i see any major benefits of protien shakes/drinks. Whole food is way better, but i think bcaa could be a good fill in.

as i mentioned in other threads...i have tried all types of whey protein supplements, and right now stopped all of them and i feel much better...the only thing that helped me i think was Bcaa. if i were you i would drop all kinds of supplements they are bad for your kidneys and stick only with BCAA just a small amount right before working out or during workout....and you can take arginine from time to time at night.
I never liked BCAA. Protein shakes are great for convenience.
Twinlab BCAA Fuel My go too BCAA product. Def agree that these help more so then vrs whey protein. If yo utake in enough lean meat\s, I believe you won't have to use protein but ammino's imo are crucial!
I have a pretty hard stomach and big does of bcaa seems to bother my stomach
They enter the blood stream much faster then regular whey. Hydrolyzed protein is another option for a fasting acting protein.
You could try both at same time. Mix a scoop of whey isolate with 5-10 grams of BCAA and 5-10 grams of glutamine.
How bout if I mix my Bcaa with my protien/carb shake right after workout ???
I don't see how it can hurt. It's a fast acting protein/carb shake with some added BCAAs which help the recovery process.
There is some evidence that peptide bound BCAA derived from whey protein elicit a greater increase in muscle protein synthesis than free form BCAA supplements, so when you also need protein intake & calories I'd go for whey.
However BCAA supplements are great for provoking a spike of muscle protein synthesis between meals when you don't want to eat again which is how I mainly use them.
I will always advise and opt for Essential Amino Acids EAA over bcaa....w/added glutamine
EAA's have the bcaa's in them plus 6 other essentials. But ultimately, I think it's preference since Bcaa's are
primarily what is important from a protein synthetic response/ muscle endurance point of view...
