    supp advice

alright guys, im 15 years old, just finishing freshman year. im 5'8" and 140 pounds. i started lifting early last november and have gained about 25-30 pounds of mass(mostly lean). here are my supps im taking:

optimum creatine powder 5 grams a day after workout(just started about a month ago, did a loading phase)

    pro-rated whey protein 2-3 servings a day

and i dont know if these others count but.....
    a daily multivitamin
    600mg. of calcium daily
    1000 I.U. of vitamine E(whats I.U. stand for?)

my quesiton is is there anything i should add or take away from this supplement plan. what exactly does vitamin E do? i heard it raised hormone levels so i just started taking it.
    back for the first time....

Well I'm probably not the most knowlegable person to give out advice, but...

I have always picked up that it is optimal to take creatine .. ie 5grams before (45mins before workout) and then take 5grams after with a protein shake - 10 mins after the workout - but with your body weight - maybe 4 grams before and after would be better.... Make sure you are drinking a hell of a lot of water as well.

A multivitamin... take it with breakfast... I also tend to take mine with a meal after my workout, therefore replenishing minerals, yet people might argue that it is not optimal for uptake due to it competing with proteins and glutamine(which I also take).

Well I don't take vitamin E... but my father does and he says it is good for your skin (He has a degree is pharaceuticals) ...So I dunno.

Since you 15 and your bones are still growing Im sure extra calcium can't hurt.. just make sure you take it with one of you meals, preferably seperatly from your multi....

Maybe you should read into Glutamine... ?

    Well thats my say

@ 15 all you need is a balanced diet of healthy foods! Don't waste your money on sups yet. Maybe protein but that's it unless you want to freaky huge. Right now you have all the test and natural growing power built right in just waiting for you to feed it!!

    multivitamin

I would still take a multivitamin as already mentioned. I don't know how your diet is, but most the high school guys I know eat like crap. If thats how you eat you might want to take a multivitamin.

Vitamin E doesn't raise your hormone levels and a 1000 IU is to much try 400 that's a standard dose
I doubt you need the calcium but if you do continue to take it make sure it has vitamin D with it.

I have to agree with TJohn. At 15 you don't need anything other than protien, and a daily multi vit. wouldn't hurt either. Creatine at your age is a "hot" topic in some circles and just to be on the safe side I wouldn't take it until your older.

Check your diet and just try to eat, eat, and then eat some more. You'll grow just as fast.

when i started lifting i was 5'5 1/2" and now im 5'8", so maybe i just keep getting taller so my gains dont show as much. i lift much heavier weights now and it shows some in my chest and my legs and my arms are more vascular i guess.

Hey I hear ya, being in football you want to be as big and strong as you can. I was referring to pro bodybuilder freaky huge. And I still stand by what I said b4. Eat all the natural protein and slow release carbs you can fit down your throat. That's not to mention the good fats

I'd say if you weigh around 160 at 5'8" you'll be big enough so all your friends can tell you work out;you definitely won't be huge but you'll be healthy

He isn't going to get freaky huge by taking some supps at 15, but I have to agree with Tjohn when you say that at 15 you don't need to waste your money on supps man. The supps won't make you gain, your hard work, recovery time, a large and calculated diet, and most importantly years of training consistency will make you the gains you want. The supps are something that are nice to have, but not vital to your training like all of the other things I just mentioned. Plus RC think like this, your hormones are higher now than they will ever naturally be again, your test levels, your GH levels, all of those are peaking man. Take advantage of that and don't worry about quick fixes like supps. Worry about food, that should be your main focus and food will give you much better weight gain than supps will. Remember you must take it one step at a time.

Oh and there is nothing wrong with someone taking creatine at 15, despite the fact that it is a hot topic it is perfectly safe!

Ya man, these guys know what they're talking about. Supplements aren't the most important thing on your list of priorities. Eat, sleep and train huge, BUT........

But, most important use CORRECT TECHNIQUE!!!!!

I started lifting at age 17, 6'1", 175. Until the age of 21, i lifted consistently and have always ate huge. I wondered why i wasn't making significant gains even though i ate and trained often.

You MUST develop a great mind to muscle link!!! This is the most important thing, otherwise youre wasting your time. Be thinking about and feel the muscle(s) you're working through every rep of every set of every workout!

At age 21, i was 6'1", 200lb, with decent size and shape. i bought the Arnold Schwarzennegger encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding. Dude, no joke, its the best $25 i've ever spent.

After one great year of lifting with perfect form and a great mind to muscle link (of course not to mention eating like crazy, supplementing etc.), i am 210, with my waist getting smaller and smaller and muscles are popping out of everywhere!

Guys at the gym ask me how i'm twice as big as other guys when i use half the weight they use as they swing dumbells here and throw around cables there. Don't get me wrong, i lift heavy (squat 350, bench 315, deadlift 430), but for most exercizes i pyramid 15, 12, 10, 8, and 8 or 6.

Don't feel the weight in your hand, You have to feel the muscle your working! Dude, buy the encyclopedia, learn perfect form and exercizes, and have patience. in 5 years (which i wish i could have back), you'll be HUGE.
