    glutamine in stomach/creatine & caffeine

Hi. I just had two quick questions. If anyone has info on them, it would be greatly appreciated.

#1) Is there any truth behind the concept that powdered glutamine is not as effective as tablets that are enterically coated to protect the glutamine from getting denatured in the stomach (and therefore better absorbed in the small intestine?)?

#2) Does caffeine have any effect on creatine if they are taken together? I read somewhere not to do this, but I can't remember where (or if it was supported by someone's experience or a study).

    Thanks for the creatine info.

Re: glutamine...I thought about it T_C_D and you're right...that doesn't make a lot of sense. The only thing I can reason is that since glutamine diffuses across the intestinal cell into the body based on it's concentration (once it has gotten into the intestinal cell itself), maybe the guy meant that more will make it INTO the intestine in the tablet form, so more will be transported ACROSS the intestinal cell membrane, and then the concentration IN the intestinal cell will be greater so more will diffuse INTO the body. I'm not sure why less of the powdered form (vs the tablet) would make it into the intestine, though...maybe there is more of a chance for the small particles to get "lost" in the crypts of the stomach?? ANYWAY, I'm continuing w/ the powder...it's much cheaper.

That's what I hear as well. That said, I usually do not drink coffee until an hour or so after I take my creatine.

Mixing creatine with hot coffee is a bad idea though because the hot water breaks the creatine down into creatinine (useless waste material).
