Ibuprofen will work better for immflamation. Tylenol will work better for pain. But take them at different times. They interfere with each others absorbtion.
What do you guys think the best legal pain killing substance is(tylenol, ibuprofen, aspirin) just for pain. I need something for football. I have this thing with my knees. The tendon where my quad attaches right below my kneecap swells up after like running and stuff, not from lifting. It makes these bumps that are very painful if hit, as well as reducing my flexibility and just giving me pain overall. My doctor said this won't stop until I stop growing. Last year for 2-a-days, which is when it gets terrible, I took ibuprofen. It helped a little if any and I used that for the whole season, usually two or three before a practice. However I've noticed that Tylenol seems to work better for me although I don't think it will be strong enough alone. I was thinking maybe 2 tylenol and 2 ibuprofen. Or maybe go 1 aspirin, 1 tylenol, 1 ibuprofen. Aleve seems to work also so that might get tossed in there. What would you guys recommend? Also, is all this bad for me? I've seen guys take 8 tylenol before a game, and one dude downed a whole bottle of childrens advil.

ibuprofen most definately. And you won't blow out your liver if you do have a drink or two on top of it later. Many people are destroying their liver with Tylenol and are clueless.

I did alot of hiking (long distance thru-hiking type of thing) and wreaked my patella...luckily I was in vermont and got a very good sport meds doc. He gave me Motrin and man i swear by those little red pills. Wreaked my stomach though...make sure you drink plently of water!

Here's what I could do for 2-a-days. I could take two tylenol before practice to get rid of the stiffness and pain and what not, and then after the second one I have an hour off for lunch which is when the inflammation occurs, so I can take two Ibuprofen then. Sound good?Originally posted by dg806

well I suspect even water is toxic in extreme quantities. But I know that a very small dose of tylenol can damage your liver whereas ibuprofen can be taken in tremendous more quantity before toxicity levels are reached.Originally posted by dg806
