you don't need it per say, but it really helps if you are looking to create an unsulin spike after ur workouts.

Dextrose is ABSOLUTE MUST after intense workout.
Your depleted glycogen stores must be replenished IMMEDIATELY.
So does your muscles with QUICK AMINO ACIDS. Try stacking Whey Protein with dextrose for best results.
Also stack Dextrose with BCAA's (Universal BCAA's Stack Powder) for best results.

This is generally correct. I'd not recommend it however for someone with endomorpic tendencies, unless s/he were bulking. Endomorphs are protected from catabolism, generally speaking, so could get away with just whey post-workout and would not want the extra calories.Originally posted by Testosterone

NJ -- grape juice is not nearly as beneficial. Grape juice is mostly sucrose which will preferentially refill liver glycogen. We want to refill muscle glycogen. Thus glucose is the best source since it preferentially refills muscle glycogen.
Dextrose and maltodextrine are forms of glucose.
How much dextrose and maltodextrin do u need after ur workout? what's the ratio for bodyweight to gram of dextrose?also, can u buy this in the grovery store?

Your gatorade powder would work fine.
Just to add, the dextrose and insulin spike also help to drive nutrients such as creatine and glutamine into the muscles as well, this would be the perfect time to take them.
