    My Liver

About a year ago I started taking 10 grams of creatine and a lot of protein shakes daily. I used these products for about 6 months untill stopping working out. I have been off for about 6 months now. My concern is that I costantly have to pee. I pee about 20 times a day, and do not drink that much fluids a day. I know that when I was on creatine, I had to urinate alot, but I was drinking gallons of water and alot of creatine. I am 130 pounds ( im very lean and small ). I want to know if I damaged my liver by taking these products, and if frequent urination is abnormal. Thanks.

You cant possibly be peeing out more than you drink per day over a years time, so you must be drinking more than you think.

Frequent urination can be an indicator of several ailments. See a doctor just to be safe. The Creatine has nothing to do with it.

By the way, the main complaint is that creatinine raises kidney levels, not liver supposedly though this is a non-issue.

Yea, I'm sorry. Im sure you can tell im only 17 years old. I did not want to say anything about my age because the second you mention an age under 18 your respect is lost. Whatever. So I will check with my doctor. Var, maybe you could give me some examples of what it could indicate? And Mudge, I definitly feel that these supplements have effected my body. Maybe it is because of my age, maybe it is because of miss use. I consumed only 10 grams of creatine a day, not much. I think the dextrose maybe effected it more... Much more was used? I have no idea. Iggnorant child . If anyone else has any thoughts on this "ailment", id appreciate hearing them. Thanks.

The mind can affect the body to no end, you can convince yourself something has done something to you and you will make yourself sick.

I have never seen creatine do anything funny, but there is nothing wrong with getting tested.

On a blood test? No, they wont be looking for any of that, I have on idea if that even shows up in the blood since its usually tested by urine.

This should have nothing to do with your liver. More than likely it has something to do with your prostrate! Go have it checked!

Also the creatine and protein would not affect this!

I have similar problems actually. You are probably a naturally small guy with a small bladder. The extra water & fluid absorption caused by Creatine supplementation should have been well out of your system by now. If you are of coarse drinking a lot or more likely eating a lot of water rich foods (e.g. pasta, rice, fruits, oatmeal etc.) then your body is simply dumping excess water. As long as the urine is clear after your initial morning urination (where its usually yellow) then I strongly doubt you have any kidney issues. Also, if you are on a very high protein diet like a ketogenic or Atkins kind of diet then the body will tend to naturally dehydrate and dump a lot of fluids. Also look into salt intake or anything that can act as a diuretic. In all probability it’s a combination of having more water intake than you think through direct and indirect food sources, some diuretic effects and a small bladder. If the color of the urine is pale yellow or darker consistently then seek medical attention.

p.s. Don't forget to count the water in your protein shakes.

As DG mentioned this is usually a prostate problem, and at your age it is very unlikely but who knows, I think you are just not paying attention to how much you drink, be it water soda or protein shakes your going to pee out liquid that goes through your mouth.

If the prostate becomes enlarged, it presses against part of your organs required for evacuating urine. So what ends up happening is you constantly go to the bathroom, letting out only small quanities and then perhaps 15 minutes later you have to go again, but you never feel like your getting it all out.

I pretty much discounted the prostate as being way down in the noise level of probability (subfractional %) at his age bracket. The other possible thing is, if this correlates to a sudden change in fitness lifestyle and heavy suplimentation is that he is ingesting large does of certain minerals or "exotic" bodybuilding additives that may be slightly irritating his bladder and giving him signals to urinate more often than he needs to. I can't begin to guess what kind of supliments could do this since each person has their own particular sensitivites and alergic reactions. It might be worth experimenting and seeing if the problem is related to specific suplimentation or foods that he is ingesting.

Good point ,OD. While it is always better to be safe than sorry, at his age I would seriously doubt any major medical conditions. There are so many factors that could cause urination frequency to increase (such as those mentioned above; e.g., bladder size, mis-calculated water intake, salt, caffeine, SKD's, etc.) I think I would first attempt to eliminate one suppliment/factor at a time in order to determine the true culprit.

Oh, and DillYo, quit smoking pot.

My urine is always clear, even in the mornings. I am definitly a well hydrated person, but I find it hard to believe that I have to urinate so often. Just going out with my friends, I will go to the bathroom so much more often then them. All my friends think I have a problem because I go to the bathroom so often. I'm not saying this because it bothers me, but because it concerns me. I consume a good deal of salt because I eat fast food about once a day. I'm going to tell me father, who is a doctor. I'm sure he will just tell me I'm fine. (He's an eye doctor). But the reason why I ask you here is because if I know something could seriously be wrong with me, then I will go to the doctor. Since I did not know anything on the topic, if I just asked my father, he would not send me to the doctor for this. So I appreciate your help guys.

You also could be borderline dibetic, diabetics go into what is called ketosiis and urinate more frequently. just get a regular blood work up, and or test your glucose levels at different times during the day.

Sorry for the late reply Dillyo. I was actually referring to possible prostate problems or diabetes (as others later mentioned). I wasn't specific because you seem a little jittery about this stuff. You probably have NOTHING to worry about. Get checked out as a precaution...and then RELAX!!!

thank you. i am a very paranoid person. DaMayor: It's not the weed. I could get into further detail but I am sure the people on this forum do not care to hear anymore about my paranoia. Var, DaMayor, and everyone else who responded to my post, thank you for your help. I will let you guys know what the doctor has to say. Tonight, I payed attention to how often I peed and how much a drank starting at dinner. I drank two glasses of iced tea, and peed 5 times 2 hours. FIVE TIMES. And they were full urinations! As you guys can tell, I like to talk alot, and will probably continue talking about this untill people stop responding, so when you all get sick of me, and my post, please stop responding. lol.

This is now taking on the dimension of a good mystery so I want to follow this. What did you have for dinner? Anything like rice, high water content veggies etc.?

My younger brother would not take creatine either, so your not alone if anything I dont view it as all that bad because it would keep him away from heavier things I would hope anyway, but honestly some people will do drugs but wont touch wussy supplements, which is bassackwards to me.

    Dillyo...
    Do the following:
1- Drink 2 medium cups of water.
2- Don't eat rice, or other water absorbant foods.
3- Keep a record of what you drink.
4- Don't go to the bathroom unless you REALLY need to.
    For one day only..

    Then tell me the following:
1- How many times did you have to go to the bathroom.
2- The color of the urine.
3- Was the ammount you drunk close to the ammount of urine disposed?

    I think I can help.
