I dont think many people need to go above 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight.

I knew a guy who went from 1.5 to 3.0 grams a day and lost his gains. It depends on the person.

You know you are taking too much if you head explodes. Short of that, you are fine.

NO ONE will lose muscle BECAUSE they increase protein.

1g/pound of bodyweight is a minimum. 2g/pound is probably the most any non-AAS user will need.

Whoops.....let me make this clear. More gas than normal ='s too much protein.

Sorry about that. I didn't see the part where the poster asked about too much or too little. All I saw was, "Is there a way to tell if you are taking too much protein?"

Gas means that the subject is having digestion issues or has food rotting in the gut (milk for example), this has nothing to do with protein.

As long as you're consuming between 1-2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight per day you're fine.

Less than 1 gram is too little if you're "bodybuilding", and going above 2 grams is not really necessary IMO. (maybe a 275lb roid monster might need more)

weigh your food, it should be a must, not a guess on how many ounce's it is. if you go over by an ounce or two, its to your benefit.

1g per pound is IMO not too much by any stretch, I stopped gaining at 1.2g at one point and I was nowhere near huge. I try to stick to 1.5g per pound right now as a minimum.

Serious bodybuilders weigh thier chicken, sometimes including at restraunts if we are talking truly serious people (the mindset).

By that token I would not be considered "that serious" as I dont weigh my food, I go by visual for the most part.
