I was told that you should by protein thats lactose free and that products with lactose ,such as milk, causes you sh*t out alot the protein instead of your body absorbing it. Is this true or a load of rubbish? thanks, ac

Problems occur with lactose only with those who are lactose intolerant, meaning they lack enough of the enzyme, lactase,to properly digest it.Lactose is a sugar found in dairy products like milk, ice cream, etc. Many people have problems with lactose after childhood. For some people it causes mild stomach upset and for others it can cause permanent residence in the bathroom. Most protein powders are lactose reduced or lactose free, and most tolerate these products quite well. Some people take a product called Lactaid w/ their protein drinks, which supply the necessary enzyme. This is an individual thing and only you can determine how you feel, but you shouldn't be spending all day in the bathroom, although it IS a good place to read.

Lactose is crappy cuz it preferentially saturates liver glyocogen stores and when liver glycogen is saturated all the additional lactose (and fructose) carbs go to fat. The liver can only hold about 100g of glucose, so you can see where problems arise.
