    Weight Gainer Questions

    Hi,

I'm a 16 year old male been working out for about 2 months now. I'm currently taking about 3 servings of optimun protein, aminogen, TRAC Creatine(only on workout days), a multi vitamin, and L-Glutamine three two or three times every day. I've gained about 10 lbs since I started working out; I'm up to 155 from 145 and I'd like to get alot bigger.

I'd like to start the GNC Weight Gainer 2200 Gold, but it only comes with 5 servings. It say to mix three scoops per serving on the back of the bottle. Now for the questions: If I just used one scoop per serving and only used it on days I worked out would I still benefit? Also, would I even benefit if I only used it on days I worked out? How many times a day should I take it? What time of day? Are there any other weight gainer products anyone can reccomend?

And unrelated to the topic: Do you guys think my supplements are enough or too much? Is ther anything else I could use? I'm going to the gym 4 times a week on average. Everyone is telling me to eat alot; what types of foods? What would be a good thing I could take to school to eat?

Any other advice on ANY topics at all would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks alot in advance
    Thomas

You have only been working it for 2 months? Why are you so worried about supplements? If you are hitting it hard and heavy (well maybe not too hard at 16) and eating correctly, u should not be too worried about supps. creatine and a multi is good..A weight gainer will add unwanted calories that will probably turn into fat

not necessarily Oak, he does want the calories if he is trying to gain weight. especially at his age, his metabolism is much higher, I don't see why it would turn into fat. He can take those to school with him and drink them and that would be a perfect way to get in the kcals when you can't eat a meal. There are better weight gainers besides the GNC brand though. Make sure to find one without alot of sugar and you should be fine.

Thanks for the fast resposnses guys. I've been looking around the forums and alot of people seem to like ProLab's N-Large 2. Do you think I would gain if I took a half serving of N-Large three times a day? If I started taking that should I stop taking Whey two or three times a day or just cut back on it?

    Thanks again

you need to be getting about 1.5 times your body weight of protien in grams, so however you can do that, do it, real food, powders, a mixture of both is best ideally. Besides that, you should be getting a meal in every 2-2.5 hrs IMO if you wanna gain weight, not huge meals, but you should just be grazing thruoghout the day. Now I don't know your stats, you ideal cal intake, or the amount of kcals in the weight gainer so I can't really comment on that. My advice is to go to the diet thread and read up on what that, diet is more important than supps when it comes to gaining weight, especially as a beginner. Learn how to eat before you worry about all teh unnecessary bells and whistles.

weight gainers don't just make you fat just b/c, if it is a bad product filled with sugar and lousy fats then ya it will, but there are good products out there too. I am using a MRP right now and I love it, I get tired of cooking 8 meals a day, its nice to just throw down a shoke thats got llike 1200 cals, you are set for a while.

Hey me too, no doubt. It just can be tedious to eat solid food 9 times a day everyday, I find it convient to throw a shake in there 1 a day. Of course there is no substitute for real food. hhhhhmmmmm....chicken...
