Taking L-Glutamine and Creatine..

Im new here and done some search regarding the two but still a little confused about when and how much to take those two. I've taken creatine for a few months now and planning to start on glutamine also this week.

From what I gather on this board, you take glutamine in the morning + before and/or after workout + before bed. but when should I take creatine? since i dont want to take the two together. I'm thinking about taking glutamine in the morning + after workout + before bed and creatine before workout. thoughts?

Also, on off days, should I take the same amount of glutamine and creatine? Thanks.

why not take them together?

the supp. i use is a creatine/glutamine formula (plus a bit of protein and dextrose), you take a shake in the morning and a shake post WO

5g of each per serving (10g of each daily)

thats fine right?

First off, it is okay to take glutamine peptides with creatine. L-glutamine (such as "GluFM") should be taken by itself, such as before bed and first thing in the morning.

Second, one of the benefits of creatine is increased energy (due to enhanced ATP processes) in your workout. So, I find that I always want to take it before a workout.

I take 5g before, I think is important to have creatine in the bloodstream ready when the muscles are used the most.

here is how I take them:

1hr pre-wk 5g l-glutamine w/ water
30min pre 5g creatine mix

20-30 min post 5g creatine + whey

I cycle creatine for 14 on 7 off

i heard 2 months on 1 month off

or more recently i heard continuous (however i don't agree with that)

I'd probably go for 1 month on, 14 days off, make my cycles a bit smaller, i feel under a month is not long enough, that would be just 2 sessions (maybe 1 session depending when i started taking it) with creatine in my system, my body would need a month for consistency reasons

i think a lot of it is to do with personal preference

Yes, I tried 14on 14off but my recovery was bad on days >10 so I switched to 14 on 7 off and It is working great for me...

The key to all sups is to know your body, there is not a standard dose for everyone IMHO.

How soon before your workout & before bed? Would this also depend on your work out schedule? Only asking because I do cardio in the am....then work till 6pm.....train from 7-8:15pm...home...cook...eat.....sleep......Would this mean, based on my schedule, the glute would be taken at a dif time or only twice a day?

-creatine: after workout with glutamine

Does it matter (scientifically) whether or not you take Creatine before or after your work out? I'm not trying to challenge you.....Just trying to understand. Maybe I should switch mine up then. I usually take my creatine 30 to 60 prior to weight training.

Off days:

-glutamine: before breakfast, before bed
-creatine: before bed with glutamine

This part I understand

this works well for you?

i might try it, but when you come off creatine do you notice a real drop in performance? or dose the short cycle mean you feel stronger all the time

what i'm trying to ask is can you still make progress every workout, or do you just progress (up the weight/reps) in that 1st/2nd week of creatine then carry it through the 3rd?

do you load?

in the 7 days I dont notice any drop, but when I start again the cycle i notice a boost in performance/stamina.

Yes, you can still make progress... I really dont see any difference in the 7 days off. I take Protein Supps and L-Glutamine too.

I load when starting a new routine (every 4 months) , but just the first 3 days (20g-25g). Personally I have found it to make a difference.
