Anyone who takes melatonin, what are ur opinions??

Just bought some today, actually took a pill about 15 minutes ago to help me sleep since Ive been under some strong and unusual stress. Just wanted to know what exactly your opinions are, and how does it make you feel? (ex. sleepy, tired, relaxed, more vivid dreams??)

    Thanks
    Dave

Me and the GF use it to get rid of jet lag, to get our sleep patterns back to normal after a trans-atlantic flight.

Haven't noticed any lethergy, vivid dreams, etc, it just helps us to get to sleep when the body is saying you should be awake.

Neither of us use it for long periods, 4-5 days max, but there have been bad reports on continued use. It's banned here in the UK, so we stock up on our visits to the states.

I think i'm the only one that can report you an adverse effect!
Tried twice and that night's were a mess... Couldn't sleep more than 1hour and a half straightly! I've got all my night sliced in little sleeps! Never ever more for me!
But seems it's pretty effective in some people! For aiming their sleep, and deepening it! I don't think that it might chages your dreamways...

I use sometimes Valerian root, for helping my deep sleep! Very good for me.

I love the stuff to be honest with you. It helped me sleep on nights where I tossed and turned and it works fast. The next morning is also a plus for this stuff. It didn't make me feel like I had to crawl out of bed, I felt nice and refreshed.

    Peace,

I love it too, to be honest. I take 6mg. every night before bed and absolutely love it. It puts me right to sleep, really helps me get a good nights rest.

Good stuff! Make sure you get the time-released type.

Well, last night was an odd one. I had some pretty vivid dreams and I woke up a few times. I dont know if it was a good or bad experience, it was just strange. The dreams were definitely vivid.

I have crazy dreams on melatonin. I read on another board that a lot of people get that with ZMA too. I'm gonna have to try that stuff next.

Vivid dreams suck! I had one the other day where my car got stolen... woke up about 2hrs early and was so pissed I couldnt go back to sleep I have never tried melatonon, I just use Perkocet if I want a good night sleep.

Depends on what kind of dream you're having.

    Dream Stak

    12mg - Melatonin
    1500mg - St.Johns
    1000mg - Kava

*Throwing in some Valerian root would probally enhance the effects also. When I'm bored I take all this shit, and go to bed. Most vidid, real, and strangest dreams ever ; and ya remember them.

A very recent study (I think from the UK) showed St Johns is pretty much useless. They attributed most of its reported benefits to placebo effect.

I dont know what "MAIOS" is. All I know is that the most recent study (at least that i've seen) pretty much bashed the supplement stating that it had no effect on accute depression and little to no effect on mild depression. I'll try to find the study and post it. Personally, I have no feelings on it either way. I tried it for several months and didnt notice any effects. If it works for you, or has some other application I'm not aware of, thats good news.

Valerian Root gives me sick dreams too. Seems to wear off faster than the melatonin (time-released), so I wake up after 5 hrs sleep and feel wide awake.

Yesterday I just experimented with a sleep/dream stack.

    900mg St.Johns
    6mg Melatonin
    4000mg Nutmeg
    1000mcg B-12

Very deep sleep, Vivid dreams, and felt mild euphoria about 15-20 minutes after ingesting.
