There are cases of renal failure, specifically interstitial nephritis in as little as 600 mcg a day for six weeks. Here are two links, the first has a case involving a BB.

Also, female athletes who take it become anemic since the chromioum binds to transferrin and can cause iron deficiency in wome who are still actively menstruating. If you have been told you are close to hyperglycemic, see your doc and check it out further. I've seen a disproportionate amount of type 1.5 diabetes (a slow autoimmune diabetes) in body builders. chromium does help type II diabetics who are insulin resistant, but body builders almost never develop this.
