It depends on your diet. My fav's are VPX Micellean and Beverly Ultra Size. If you need some carbs just blend in some oats.

Its a shame this whole Atkins deal is changing our entire generation it seems. With beef prices rising and such, people dont understand CARBS ARENT BAD. They are your bodies preferred source of energy. All you have to do is limit them within your bodies needs.

I am so angry at the Atkins craze. I worked for a man who was second to Arnold on the President's Council of Fitness, and we dissected every diet. Atkins is horrible. My girlfriend is doing it, and we fight about it constantly.

If you want to go into Ketosis and have your body eat your lean muscle mass for energy, go for it.

If you want to totally F your glycogen levels, go at it.

If turning your arteries into a backed up highway of sludge is your goal, Atkins is great.

If losing weight for a lifetime, forget about it.

If you want to be able to do well in any sport, forget about it.

Sad thing is, now it's a marketing thing, and there's and entire ISLE of atkins and low-carb garbage at my local supermarket.

It's true, refined sugars/flours/empty cabrs should be replaced with better sources, but carbs are essential for everything.

The strange thing is--Atkins has been around for a very long time--why now? It's an interesting study in pop-nutrition.

One of the worst things about the Atkins diet is the creator/inventor was not in the greates shape. The man had a heart attack for cryin out loud.

Low fat isn't necessarily bad, as long as the fat isn't replaced with something worse for you. Fat and carbs are both essential. You just need to eat the right ones and at the right times.

Do your parents work out at all?

If you search the diet/nutrition forum on the site, you'll find tons of advice on the proper % mix of Protein/Carbs/Fat.

Ultimately you have to find what works best for your body.

If you're looking to gain, though, you need very high calorie and protein intake.

If you're looking to enter a state of ketosis, which will guarantee lean muscle LOSS, go on Atkins....(I think this is my new signature!)
