I used to drink grapefruit a couple of years ago when the atkins diet first came out. It required drinking it. Atleast I think it was the atkins diet. Grapefruit juice takes alittle getting use to it but its not too bad. Think I will start drinking it again based on the above article. 8oz a day isnt too bad.
Nice, I will try it out!
Ya, just dont drink it after you brush your teeth...... YIKES

You dont have to use very much grapefruit juice to make this effective, it increases absorbtion of other medications as well, so much so that some users suffer side effects from the "increased dose."

Yes, I've heard that too much grapefruit juice can actually be dangerous with some cholesterol lowering and blood pressure medications.
To research, I went to the Zocor website and found this.
I'll never have to worry about drinking more then a quart of grapefruit juice a dayDrug Interactions: Because of serious drug interactions, it is important to tell your doctor what other drugs you are taking, including those obtained without a prescription. You should also tell other doctors who are prescribing a new medicine for you that you are taken Zocor. Zocor can interact with the following:
* Itraconazole
* Ketoconazole
* Erythromycin
* Clarithromycin
* HIV protease inhibitors
* Nefazodone
* Cyclosporine
*Large quantities of grapefruit juice (>1 quart daily), but the moral of the story is if you are taking other medications, it would be wise to check the insert sheet before consuming grapefruit juice.
