It foams up, it chunks up, its got a harsh bitter/sour taste. booooooooo!

my two cents on the supp. But hey, it is isolate so i suppose its good quality, but the adds make it seem like its the best tasting thing ever.

i'm talking about very cherry berry.

An economical, high-performance alternative to Ex-Cyte for cholesterol and essential fatty acids. It is a naturally occuring fraction of Whey. Nothing that is additionally added.

    Bovine= COW
    Serum- derived from blood component.

BSA- bovine serum albumin. this is a protein from cow blood.
it is ADDED to the product mixture. it kind of took me aback a bit to see a protein derived from cow blood in a product.

but it is cheap as there is about 200 million tonnes of cow blood and guts to dispose of each year.

    enjoy your nectar....

i'll leave it to someone else to point out the association of the prion disease BSE ( Bovine spongiform encephalopathy ) with the feeding of animal/ animal blood products back to cows and then the human disease vCJD or regular CJD.

prion-essentailly a misfolded protein. found in spinal column, brain tissue, in some organs more than in others and then almost certainly in the blood.

Are you sure it said BOVINE as i find that hard to believe!!

In a rare/med. rare steak the red stuff is _________
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

    agreed.
however, when you order a medium or a rare steak, or just a steak for that matter, you KNOW that you are getting beef and are eating meat. And YOU KNOW that the red stuff is blood.

when you look at the ingredients on a side of a bottle of protein and you see bovine serum albumin, a person may not know what it is and then not bother looking into it any further. you wouldn't expect to find a cow blood product in a jug of protein.

someone probably thinks that BSA is a naturally occurring part of whey for crying out loud.

    It's about informed consent.

Nectar does foam up a bit. Remember though, it settles and it still tastes great! To me and many others who are using it.

albumin makes up at most 5% of the protein fraction in whey protein.

Whey protein is of course from the production of cheese, which is from milk which is from cows. I have been surprised lately by the number of people who i have spoken to that didn't know that whey protein is from cow milk.

Listing it on the label as an ingredient would lead to the conclusion that additional BSA was introduced into the product mixture.

i doubt that anyone will get BSE from drinking milk or ingesting milk derived proteins.

however, BSA is being implicated in the onset of diabetes. 100% of children with type 1 diabetes have antibodies against BSA whereas only 2% of non-afflicted children have these same antibodies. The BSA is similar to the Beta cell protein which is then attacked by the BSA antibodies. The milk Institute and the DAiry Institute tells people not to be concerned. The sugar institute and The fine folk at the SAlt Institute are withholding judgement until they see how this affects them. ( These institutes actually exist )

some companies are touting just the opposite of course: that BSA is a great product.

BSA may be implicated in a rise in cholesterol in some patients taking whey as their protein source. it is a very interesting protein for being such a minor fraction of whey. It makes up only 1.5 % of milk proteins and up to 5% of whey protein . if it is listed as an ingredient on the label, then it was most likely added.
