    Protein bars...

Why does every protein bar have excess carbs and fat? Why cant they just take a chocolate whey protein and add some sort of binder to it, and make it into a bar?

most "protein" bars out there are just CANDY bars with a little extra protein.

might pack a nice protein punch, but not worth the baggage.

Yeah, i could really care less what it tastes like. I just want something i can throw in my bag... and something easier to deal with than a shaker bottle.

Anyway, couldnt you just add cellulose or something to a bag of whey? I mean, just some sort of binder?

you comprise only 0.001% of the potential population of people who would eat a bar. ( don't care about the taste ). it's not worth the money for the companies to cater to your needs.

make your own. paraffin wax , oat bran or wheat bran can be your binder.

tell me how it turns out.

experiment a bit to find which one(S) work the best.

Well considering they can make whey that tastes pretty good without the fat and the sugar, it seems odd that they cant just shape it into a bar, no?

As for market... some products avant has released have done well using a pretty small niche. And i can attest to the fact that they dont all taste like candycanes.

I just got 20lbs of whey in the mail, i think i might try experimenting.

yup, the price will reflect that.

let me know what you come up with. since i eat a lot of carbs anyway, (300- 500 grams per day ), i don't really worry about this sort of thing. My low carb diet is in the 300 gram per day category. But i would be interested in finding out what you come up with. post your results.
