Doesn't anyone just eat whole foods anymore?

Is there anyone out there who only eats whole food?

I used to drinks all kinds of protein shakes and eat all kinds of bars. I have tried meal replacements drinks. Keep in mind, I didn’t use these items as my sole source of food, but as “supplements to my diet. One day I decided to give up all that crap. Now I only eat whole food along with a multivitamin (I only take that for the beta-carotene and ginseng). My results have been pretty good too.

there are lots of people that eat just whole foods. I try and get all my cals form whoe foods as much as possible but sometimes I am to busy and a shake is the only way to make it happen. It is difficult for a lot of people to get all their cals fomr whole foods also as some people eat a lot and the whole food will make them feel to bloated or full. Why do you ask? there is nothing wrong with protein shakes to supplement your already healthy diet.

It’s not only protein shakes, but it’s all the other crap they got on the market as well. The airwaves are saturated with ads and infomercials for pills that help you lose weight, get ripped, grow your hair back, cure your premature ejaculation and the list goes on and on and on. Nobody wants to wants to put their time in and work for it anymore. Everyone wants quick results and no effort. “Oooh, if I take this pill, I can loose 10 pounds in 10 days!” “Oooh look, a pill that allows me to get abs while I sleep!” “If I drink 3 shakes a day, I can pack on 15 pounds of hard muscle in about a 2 weeks!” What a load of crap.

For me it’s a waste of money. I realize that many people use bars and shakes, because they are convenient, and I did too for a long time. One day, I just decided to clean up my diet, and take the extra time to prepare healthy meals.

I prepare all of my meals but the shakes are more conveinent as far as consuming them. For example I am a personal trainier and lets say i am training 5 people in a row. I can't just stop in the middle and pull out a tuperware of chicken and rice on the gym floor and starting eating while I am training someone. It is much easier for me to just pur some water in a shaker bottle and bang down a shake as I am working.

no doubt that the supplement industry is a huge business and it capitalizes on naive and uninformed people when it comes to losing weight and building muscle, thank god, I mean me, for places like this. (just kidding)

whole food should always be first and foremost on anyone's "diet" plan, supplements are just that, supplements to your diet. Although I feel they are 100% necessary, especially for anyone that is involved in any type of fitness, sport, etc. but no supplement of any kind, pill or drink, is a replacement for real food.

I'm with p-funk ... shakes can be just the way to go in certain circumstances. Diakonos ... if you have the time and your schedule allows you to eat whole foods, great, but for some, that just isn't possible.

I eat only whole foods, unless I am stuck, then I have a protein shake.

I prepare and cook everything and take it with me when I need too. If peeps don't like it...tough shiot.

I have dumped my MRP's for whole foods.

That will change to some extent, when we get our FED out, but I would imagine that on a diet, i will still eat mostly whole foods, because shakes are too easy to consume.

Quality MRP's and protein powders have been a godsend for me. I consume at least 3 liquid meals per day. This is due to both time and appetite. However, as I begin to approach a competition I will slowly work down to just one shake per day post workout.

ditto...I don't have a big appetite so I rely on protein powders to get in my daily protein requirements.

IMO...there are a lot of decent supplements out there. The problems is that most people do not educate themselves enough to understand what the supplement actually does. Many people have unrealistic expectations of supplements; they are not magic pills...

When I hear people talking about supplements like creatine in the gym I always ask them if they know what ATP is, 99% of them do not...

I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
