Losing weight - should i take creatine?

I just started a workout plan 2 weeks ago and have been lifting and doing cardio each about 5 times / week in an effort to lose about 15-20 lbs of fat and gain some muscle for once in my life. I'm 19, 5'10" and weigh about 180. I'm drinking protein shakes after i lift, but i was wondering about taking creatine. I know it will help me build muscle, but will it hinder my fat loss? Thanks.

29 views and no replys? Please, i'm really unknowlegable about this sort of thing, if anyone has an answer for me, please post. Also, if creatine is not the way to go, would a suppliment like Hydroxycut or Lipo-6 be worth the money? Thanks again!

well, listen to to my best advice i can give you, when you take creatine you body stores more water in your body and muscles that means you will look bigger and ofcoruse be a little stronger in the gym but you will also be smooth-like and since its summer and you are gona be shirtless you probobly want your body to look as hard as possible..........so if you ask me i would say dont use creatine untill after summer but you know best....that pretty much the basics of it all

Creatine will not help with FAT loss. You do not need to focus on losing WEIGHT (you mentioned 15-20 lbs). As far a supplements go, Hydroxycut works well from my experience, but there are generic equivalents. Haven't used Lipo-6, but it gets good reviews. At your age, stay away from Lean System 7 or anything that targets your hormones. Learn how to eat right, and you will be able to lose fat without going hungry. Learn about creatine here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/creatine.html . It can be a great aid when putting on muscle if you already have the nutrition and workout routine down. "For one thing, creatine can significantly increase lean muscle mass in just two weeks."

My question is how wouldnt using creatine help with fat loss. More LBM higher metabolism...higher rate of fat loss. Good post PFH.

yes, you can use creatine while trying to lose body fat. it has no effect on fat loss and may actually help to keep more muscle on while you lose body fat...
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

The only way the creatine would hinder your fat loss would be if you use a creatine transport system that was loaded with sugar (too many calories for a diet!!). Stick to adding your creatine to your post workout protein shake.

Everytime I diet creatine is a MUST because it keeps my muscles full, pumped and I don't lose nearly as much lean mass.
