I know this is for joint relief, but are there any benefits if your joints work fine?

Typically it's used as a reactive supplement, if your joints are in good condition I don't think it will help much. If it ain't broke, don't fix it

I've seen a couple of studies which suggested glucosamine may have a negative impact on insulin sensitivty, so I wouldn't bother unless you absolutely need it.

Hey , not to sound like a bowflex commercial but I'm 49 and in the best shape of my life and stronger than I've ever been.

When I had the rotator surgery I had full range of motion in just a few days after surgery. Did all the exercises the doc told me to and was back to work in about a week I think, doing light duty no overhead lifting. I don't remember how long it was before I was released to full duty(Maybe 5 months ) but I didn't start working out until about 10 months after the surgery ( it was a work related thing and didn't want to do anything until after the workmans comp settlement was over ). Used some of the settlemnet to buy the gym equipment !

I was 46 when I had mine , you're still young so no problem for you ! LOL Good luck !

Good luck with that surgery, Tank. . . . sounds like GW showed some good progress pretty quickly, so maybe your interruption won't be for long.

I only had the cortisone treatment last year and had to go light for a while (no overhead) ...I sometimes get some pain in my left one if I'm trying to do a heavier week. I've had to learn how to take more consistent rest days (kinda hard on my schedule). . .

You sound like you had a pretty good recovery, GW. . .but I'll tell ya, those therapy exercises are killers. . .lol. I used to walk out of sports medicine feeling as if I had almost done a heavy session after all the movements.

I took another college strength training class this summer - and made some remarks to the teacher about showing students more rotator exercises - seems to me that they always skip or ignore that area, and I'm beginning to think that is one of the most common injuries.
