Beginner's Question: Okay to drink whey on off days?

Is it okay to drink one whey protein (just one cup water, one scoop) on off days to get that extra 20g of protein without all the fat from what one meal could give? I don't give up my meals, but sometimes, close to the evening of my off days, before the last meal at 8-9pm, I feel like taking in a gulp of whey.

IMHO, I don't see why this would be a problem. I have two whey shakes per day, at least.

If your taking Whey though, make sure you take fat with it to slow down the processing.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

If you take in a meal before bed as I do, take in a shake. You can supplement it with lowfat cottage cheese and a scoop of whey. This combines the best of both worlds as whey gives you an immediate supply of amino acids and the cottage cheese gets you through the night with a slower stream of amino acids so that your body can heal with "cement and mortar". To add more flavor throw some vanilla extract or orange extract for some flavor. Watch the carbs though, as they tend to be converted to fat near nightime.
Actually this holds true in a positive way too, if you want to gain some extra weight, then have a 1/2 cup of oatmeal before bed with the shake.
