Rampage bar rocks!

BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS

Just wanted to let everyone know there's a new bar out that is totally worth a try. I picked up a box of Rampage bars from Vitamin Shoppe and they completely rule. They have protein PLUS everything a can of Red Bull has, so yes, you feel that lift.

not too bad nutritionally, but personally I am staying away from the candy coated glycerin bars these days.

not really they are $2.50 a piece. if you are on the run and don't have decent food with you it's much better than paying $3-4 for a fast food burger with far less nutrition...

trioplex...

Of the bars out there, would you say Trioplex (though they're HUGE) might be one of the healthier all-around choices?

www.trioplex.com

i also noticed on another thread that they were found to be mislabeled...
http://www.labelclaimstesting.com/?pageID=20

But I guess they still beat the "candy"-coated one, which I too am trying to stay away from...

Any thoughts?

trioplex

cannot say that these bars are good for many people. There high in carbs and fat and the first form or protein is soy. I would just make your own on the road type meal. Try this

4 egg whites
1 cup low carb yogourt
1/2 cup of oatmeal
1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter (if you want some healthy fats)
3 packs of splenda

cook this on a waffle maker and cut into 4 pieces. Try this its good

Hey that sounds like a cool little project to try!

Two questions: When you say low-carb yogurt, you mean one that is specifically marketed as low carb? Could i just use plain non fat yogurt instead? And what about the waffle maker? Any alternatives? i don't have one, nor do i have $$ right now to get one. :-(

trioplex

they now have low carb yogourt that only has 2 grams of sugar and tastes good! (splenda works miracles). I have used a pan and made pancakes out of them (but it was a gopro pancake) and have had nothing but difficulty because there a little more runny. Oh make sure to use a blender too. it will be alot easier. On another note of trioplex, i heard they were going to be pulled due to the inconsistent ingriedent values.

I did a quick google search and found four specifically low-carb yogurts. Is it one of these?

Dannon Carb Control

Yoplait Ultra

Blue Bunny Carb Freedom

Atkins/Carb Countdown

So do you think they're good or not? I thought soy isolate was a good thing? And yeah the carbs kill me. However, I only eat at most, half a bar at a time, never the full thing.

Yes, for a bar I think they're one of the better ones, they are a "food bar" versus a candy coated chemical bar, but not if you're cutting.

I eat them, I have 2 cases in my fridge right now!

That's what i figured - more natural (processed anyway, but less overall).

I bought a few different flavors, and cut them in half, and then wrapped each half individually so I don't "accidentally" overindulge, so when i pack my lunch bag for the day, i only throw in a half a bar... that cinnamon roll one, damn. soooo good. so was the chocolate coconut flavor.

the only "cookie dough" flavored meal bar i've had is the metRx one, like a year ago. I needed like a gallon of water to get one bite down. it was so dry!

i have a feeling the trioplex one will be good though. and if you pop it in the microwave, it will be like a warm brownie. ever tried that?

If you are cutting, stay away from the bars. There are far better choices for you that will do you more good!

YOu know what? I'm not sure if I'm "cutting" or not. I'm trying to shed some fat, build some muscle. Is that officially considered cutting? I'm not getting ready for any competitions or anything, just a regular girl...

and if not bars, what else (you mention other choices) are quick to grab and go. I spend a great deal of time cooking and portioning and organizing stuff every weekend for the whole week, so I can grab little containers and pack stuff up. But occasionally, it's impossible to eat a real MEAL, so I have shakes and bars, or partial bars, so long as i get the right proportion of carb/fat/protein in (while trying to keep it to 210 to 240 cal at a time with those).

you're always better with a quality MRP over a bar IMO, you can put it in a shaker bottle and add water/ice later when you're ready to drink, or if you have a blender available even better.

I guess it depends on how serious of a cut you're on and the type of progress you're making with it.

yea, im contest dieting so i guess i have a reason to stay away from them. I try to have one source of energy at a time with my protein. protein/carbs and protein/fats plus any soy is a no no for me. Soy isolate does still cause an increase in estrogen if enough grams are taken right?

well, it's not my first choce of protein because of the estrogenic compounds found in soy, in fact this bar is the only thing I eat that has soy protein and I do not even eat one per day. I wish they would change the formula to whey and casein instead, if they did I would probably eat them more often.

either way it's sort of a mixed bag in regards to the actual effects of the estogenic compounds in soy isolate. read this: http://www.brinkzone.com/soy.html
