Unhappy Senate panel pushes limits for sales of steroid precursors

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Senate committee gave its approval Thursday to a bill that would limit the sales of steroid precursors such as androstenedione.
The Judiciary Committee sent the full Senate a bill that would ban over-the-counter sales of precursors, which act like steroids in the human body.

The House has approved a similar bill that would modify the definition of "anabolic steroid" to include tetrahydrogestrinone, androstenedione and specified related chemicals.

Congress has taken an increased interest in the issue this year after reports of steroid use among athletes, particularly professional baseball players. A federal grand jury in San Francisco has indicted four men on charges of illegally distributing steroids, including the personal trainer of Giants slugger Barry Bonds.

I am so glad, everyone will be much safer now, I think they need to ban caffeine, nicotene and alcohol next.

I have heard/read mixed things, I read that it could be until January, so no one really knows.

Mike of CNW and Sledge of DS (among others) have lobbyists in D.C. who managed to get that included. They have both repeatedly confirmed that the 90 day grace period is definitely part of the bill.

well that is good news.............but how does it work, you can buy it for 90 days but then after 90 days it is illegal to posess? or just to buy? If it is illegal to posess than you are still breaking the law by stiocking up because after 90 days it eill be illegal........right?

It will be both illegal to possess and buy. However, only expect inforcement of the latter. Time to buy stock in Mexican vets, because their sales will rise next year.

I've haven't used ph's as of yet, but banning them is a joke.

Fitting time for this story to come out.

Just got this from bulk nutrition

The legislation (S.2195) is expected to go to the floor for a vote tonight. If approved by unanimous consent, the bill would be sent to the House for their approval. The effective date would begin to run from the date the President signs the bill into law. For those of you who are especially interested in an exact date, the best I can give is an estimate. If there is no objection to the legislation by Thursday, and the bill makes it to the President's desk, it would be reasonable to say that the bill could be expected to take effect on or around January 10th - 15th. We should know by tonight whether the bill will receive unanimous consent on the floor of the Senate. I will continue to keep you up to date. Thanks.
