RTD Whey

hey all,

i bought one of those RTD whey drinks today at GNC(b/c its close to work..i know i know i generally dont go to gnc, but had to b/c i was starving!) I was looking at the stats on one of their RTD whey shakes today and they looked pretty impressive like 170 cals/3carbs/40gprotein...what do you all think about the nutritional value of these shakes, and i was also curious does anyone know that if one of those things has been packaged for months does the protein lose its "proteinness"?

thanks alot!

As long as it is before the expiration, the protein quality will be fine. The problem is that if all the macronutrient calories come from protein, your body will burn the protein for energy, not use it for protein synthesis (especailly if you are starving). Drink it with a banana or some some carbs, and you are good to go.

Yeah, that would be better than a banana--more filling and has some unsaturated fat.
