    Vitamin C

A personal trainer/bodybuilder recently told me that in addition to my multi-vitamin supplement I should be ingesting additional Vitamin C. I was told to consume 1000mg daily and I weigh 163lbs. Does anyone know if this is accurate as far as dosage?

I consume an addition 1000mg of Vit C as well. I just don't feel that a multi provides enough.

I would up the dosage to 3 grams a day. spread out in 1 gram doses. it will help to reduce baseline serum cortisol levels...

    I also take 1000mg daily.
If I feel a cold coming on I will take 3000mg daily. For that amount, I break the doses down to 1000mg x 3. One thing about vitamin C, there has been no proof that you can OD on the stuff. If anything you will lose what your body doesn't consume through urination. The worst I heard of anyone consuming to much vitamin C was a diarrea side affect or stomach ache...

I believe there are many many benefits to gain from vitamin C. It even aids healing of mouth irritations from various gum irritations... A dentist told me that some time ago.
Also as I mention to Jodi awhile back I heard that gorillas bodies automatically produce vitamin C and up to 3000mg when they get sick.... Not sure if that one is true, but I heard it somewhere (Can't remember where) maybe animal planet, or discovery channel.
