no supplement will help if you aren't eating right, but yes protein shakes will help.
is it absolutly a "requirement" to consume a gram of protein per lb of body weight to gain or maintain bulk? I've been lifting for a couple year however I've always lifted and not taken any supplements, due to a job change where I only have the option to eat 1 deacent meal a day. Just "moving and shaking" too much from 4am on to even pack a deacent lunch so I'm eating little snacks here and there until dinner to maintain energy so due to that is why I'm considering supplements ie: proteins/creatines but if it is a must to consume 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight I'm gonna go broke!! Thanks for any tips guys/gals

so basically I'm just fighting a lost cause is what you're saying....glad I found this out before I went and bought a bunch of supplements
Try making quick snacks (boiled eggs, fruit, and hamburgers) the night before, put 'em in a ziplock bag. I fix meals sometimes for 2-3 days in advance. You gotta eat brother!!!
"I can do ALL things through Christ, who strengthens me" - Philippians 4:13
"For NOTHING is impossible with GOD" - Luke 1:37
well no, not fighting a lost cause.. just make it a point to shove some food down. Pack your meals the night before. If you're serious about bulking, you have to be serious about your diet. Your body will not bulk up without food!
Supplements should follow a well-planned out diet.
I'm following ya maybe I'll have to do some research per say on some quick foods that are deceant... thanks again
I'd look into MRP's (meal replacement powders). They basically contain the nutritional value of a meal, but they are very quick to make. You can find them for between $1 to $1.50 per meal, and that's pretty cheap for a meal, right?
This is what I did one summer when I worked a 8-5 desk job:
Ate breakfast at 7:00
Ate lunch at 12:00
Had a MRP at 3:00 or 4:00
Had dinner at 6:00
That's not a bad spread of meals (about 3-4 hours between on average)
Just buy a shaker cup and take some milk with you. Put it in the office refrigerator, or brink an Igloo if they don't have one. Then when you want to eat, put the powder in the shaker cup and shake it up. It takes 15 minutes to make and down that stuff. If your boss gets mad, tell him you can count this as your "smoke break." (Hey, if smokers get 15 minutes, BB's should)
I like Lean Body by Labrada because it tastes great. I'm sure there are lots of others that are also good. Search the forums and you'll find some recs.
You say you want to bulk up but how do you expect your muscles to get the proper nutrients, especially when they need it most like post workout, when you don't provide them with the needed nutrients? MRP's are expensive because they are individually packaged, but protein as a whole is a very affordable supplement.Originally Posted by savicavi
