Its whey, how could that be wrong? Whey is the best protein immediately post workout. Remember that.

You paid $23 for about 2 lbs? Not too bad, but you could do much better. Check out http://www.allthewhey.com for better prices and option, in the future.

Youre fine. Whey is what we all take. If youre only going to buy one type of protein, always go with whey. And if money is a factor at all, go with whey concentrate (as you did).

This is high quality whey protein best used immediately after workout with at least 50 grams of carbs. You did not get ripped-off, but you could buy whey concentrate in bulk online for considerably cheaper, and get the same results. I beleive few people notice any benefit using pure whey isolate unless they are lactose intolerant. I use a blend of isolate and concentrate personally. Since your supply won't last three weeks, start searching for good deals now online or at Costco or Sam's.

Good point Pirate.

I like isolate, it goes down easier for me. However, the cheaper whey is still how I go unless I find isolate on clearance.

Another good point he brought up - check out bulk discount places. I am currently using an EAS chocolate whey protein. 5 lbs for like 18 bucks. Good stuff.

Its not a supp like that. Take it In the AM on an empty stomach, once a day to start. Assess tolerance, and move up to up to 3 times a day. Dont work it around your workouts.

edit:
Damn, I musta been tired too. I thought his post was about ECA, not protein. Ya, I messed up. Best time for whey is immediately post workout and then again first thing in the AM when cortisol levels are high.

Sorry about that.

Man, I must have been tired last night. I could have sworn that the link was to whey isolate. You didn't get the best deal on it, actually. As was said before, find a store that sells 5 or 10 lbs of whey. Does www.bulknutrition.com charge that much to ship to Hawaii? Their shipping prices are always reasonable. Extra shipping may still be worth it.

question: i see that whey is the obvious choice, but before i buy that i'm using VPX "micellean bioactive superfood" supp for protein. is this ok based on these #'s? also, when should i make shakes? keep in mind i'm a female!

VPX 38G (pouch is 76 but it says females should use half)
138 calories
1.1 F, 11 C, 22 P

looks like good stuff with "whole ground flax seed meal" (EFA's), my worry is the HGF (high growth factor)... maybe Whey has the same, i'm not sure, but i don't want to bulk. I'm currently 5'6, 155, hoping to lose some BF, 24% now. I've always lifted/cardio 5-6 x a week, i'm really cleaning up the diet now. thanks for any info!!

also, i'm going to the health food spot in a bit, i'm going to get fish oil and flax oil, any other staples that i should pick up while there? thanks again, have a great weekend.

You need protein no matter what, but if you do not want to bulk just watch the calorie intake. Bulking proteins are a lot higher in calories, so just go with one that isn't. Take the shake after your workout, and don't forget some multivitamins from the health food spot.

Maybe he got it on clearance. There are always great deals when they have to move the goods.

I think VPX's protien is a bunch of ripoff, it is super expensive and really not all that "awesome" as they say, I mean I go thru a lot of freakin protein a month and if I bouth their expensive ass protein everytime then Idd be broke....I use a few vpx product but I just hope they dont turn into "muscle tech" their protein is a bunch of shit and expensive too....

QG, $ isn't a concern b/c my bro runs a supplement site, slight hook-up I may just go with whey though b/c i picked up a pack for my lunch shake and it was good and far from clumpy and the VPX one i'm drinking now I can't get mixed and I shook the shit out of it! still clumpage in the bottom of the skaker. to the gym in 5 minutes!!! woo hoo

I sometimes make my shake like 12 hours before and just leave it with me and have it whenever i need it, I know the problem with the clumps but if you mix it befoer like I said that wont be a problem anymore...
