Placebo effect.

1 question. How much different is 5 pounds of muscle gained via placebo effect as apposed to 5 via actuall working supplement. None. If people are getting results from a product that science suddenly deams ineffective, the placebo effect goes down the drain. Ill buy the supplement, if i gain muscle on it I could give two shits about whether it comes via placebo or working supplement. Hell afterall if im getting effects from a placebo effect, does not this innefective supplement in essence become a working one?

When did you start working out/how long? Was it right when you started to take said supplement?

Placebo is possible in MANY studies, the mind is a powerful thing.

I know. What r u talkin about? Thats what im saying. I was saying i dont care if im getting results from my mind or the supplement itself. Im getting the results all the same. And if such said results were stimulated by my brain then ultimately it was provided by the supplement becuase the usage of the supplement is what cuases my mind to believe.

if you gain 5lbs of muscle while taking a real supplement, it IS different than if you gain 5lbs of muscle b/c of a placebo.

In other words, say i take what i believe is dbol.
NOw if it IS dbol, i gain 5lbs.
If its NOT dbol, just aspirin, and i gain 5lbs, it has NOTHING to do with a placebo effect and me thinking i'm taking dbol.

Exactly Flex. I want to know if he is a 'newbie', because of how easy it is for them to gain LBM. Also if he was using the supp, since the begining, then his thinking that its working is flawed..

no man. The structure of the muscle is gained is no different. All im saying is who gives a shit if its the supplement working or the mind working. 5 pounds of muscle is 5 pounds of muscle. I see what youre saying though, but i think that the mind is powerful enough to do such things. No doubt about it.

Dude if you don't give a fuck about placebo effect then PM me. I have a revolutionary supplement here that will put on 10 lbs. of LBM in only 2 months and only costs $300 a month. I was going to name it Fizogen, but that name's already taken...

what the fuck are you talking about?

Alls i'm saying is..........

If i take 50mg of dbol for 10 days, i'll put on 5lbs, due to the dbol.

If i take 50mg of what i think is dbol, but is actually not, and for some ungodly reason i put on 5lb, it has NOTHING to do with the fact that my mind thought it was dbol.

u gotta be kiddin me. Well becuase obviously I would know beforehand that they werent. Placebo effect involves a little something called actually believing in what your taking. Was that a serious post?

Only if it is a blind placebo study. You can still experience placebo effect from knowingly taking a placebo.

Theyve done studies taking 2 groups, had them perform before and after tests of strength, gave one group nothing, one group a pill and told them the pill was worthless, and the group taking the pill they were told was worthless gained more strength then the group not taking anything?

why would they take a pill after being told its worthless?

The placebo effect does not cause your to build muscle. It might make you FEEL stronger but it doesnt mean you are stronger. you are confusing this with mind over matter.

you understand that? you can't just imagine that a vitamin pill is gonna pack 5lbs on you in one week and then acutally pack on 5lbs due to your mind concieving it! if you put on 5lbs it wouldn't be the fact that you thought you were taking the product it would be down to other changes such as diet... training... etc

but think what you wanna think man, maybe you should send goldcocks a PM and order some of his supplement, might work for you

I don't think adding muscle would have anything to do with you thinking you were on dbol. I think its possible you would be alot more confident during your lifts leading to increased strength and hence hypertrophic response...etc..

once again for the 10th time, becuase i would know its worthless becuase u just told me it was. Ask a scientist about the placebo effect. People psych themselves up for lifts and break their own records all the time. An added placebo effect could do the same thing in making that person bekieve that they are that much stronger. U should all be aware of how powerful your mental state and confidence effect your lifts. Some of the greatest bodybuilders of all time have perpetuated the mental aspect of bodybuilding and some even call it half of bodybuilding. Even the ones who dont call it half acknowledge is existence and surely you are all equally aware of its potency. The placebo effect exists. Thats not even debatable.

wtf am i talking about? Look at my post u qouted, i was asking a question of the person who posted before me. Dont qoute my post and respond to it when you dont even know whats going on. I know it wouldnt work with a vitamin becuase i know that a vitamin doesnt pack on 5 lbs of muscle. Your examples are laughable at best.

I think starting a placebo effect thread has the mental placebo effect of elevated IQ.

Id love to sit down with you and take an IQ test. I know what mine is. You act like no ones ever talked about the placebo effect before. But please continue to be an asshole, it provides amusement to an otherwise dull night.

I was joking bro, simmer down. A little sarcasm now and then doesn't hurt. You obviously feel compelled to prove yourself on this board, but do you think anyone on here buys the shit that others spit out? There will be people on here you will take seriously, but alot of people are full of shit, and posts about your incredibly high IQ will quickly be ignored, so spare us the bragging bullshit and actually contribute to the board.

Point to the part of my post where i said to have an incredibly high IQ. contribute to the board? Like youve done in your past couple posts? Iwas making an attempt to contribute by talking of something i felt to be legit. It was you that stumbled on here talking nothing. You should understand a situation before you ignorantly analyze it.

Wow. I haven't been on this board long (almost two months), but I've been here long enough to take offense to someone trying to negate GC's contribution to the board...
