    Advice/knowledge please!

    Hi guys,
I have very little experience with supplements, I've just always heard "they're bad for you" and so I never really thought about them until now. I have anorexia which I just recently "admitted" to and I'm starting to see a therapist and doctor to treat it. Obviously one of the most important goals of treatment is to put on weight, and so that's what I'm trying to do right now. I don't know how much you guys know about eating disorders, but gaining weight is pretty hard because once a person starts to put on some fat, it kind of freaks them out and they try to lose weight again. I realize that fat gain is inevitable when gaining weight, but I;m trying to gain as little as possible in hopes that I'll be able to "handle" it mentally/psychologically. My question for you guys is, does creatine (or other supps that are definitely safe) help to minimize fat gain when bulking, or does it only maximize your muscle gains? In other words, does it help you to gain a greater proportion of muscle to fat, or does it just make you gain more muscle faster (and you still gain fat at the same rate)? My goal is not to get ripped or anything like that, it's just to slowly put on weight with as little fat gain as possible. Do you guys think creatine would be useful for my situation? Thanks very much for your help. Oh yeah, by the way, I've been reading the nutrition forum and I will be eating cleanly, so this would just be in addition to that.

If you're really worried about gaining fat, head over to the diet section and start reaidng. There's a great sticky at the top to strart with.
Take it slow. Find out what your maintenance calorie needs are and incease them by 100/week. The key though is to eat clean.
Supplements aren't magic, proper diet is where it's it.

I realize the importance of a proper diet, and I have spent a lot of time on the nutrition forum. My diet is pretty clean. I guess what I was wondering is, assuming a clean diet, will creatine or other supplements provide additional benefits as far as minimizing fat gain, or do they only work to maximize muscle gain? I know this is a noob question, but I haven't been able to find an answer to this particular question yet.

    Thanks,
    Luke

    Hey luke,

However clean you think your diet is, I strongly suggest that you post a journal. You'll learn stuff you never though would matter. Just remember that some people actually PAY for the advise you can get here free

    G'luck. Sorry about the name.

Creatine? No. Other supplements? Maybe. Depends on which one.
