    taurine (from Bulk Nutrition)

today i made the mistake of adding my taurine powder (from Bulk Nutrition) into my diet coke...let's just say that i only have half a diet coke now. does the taurine react with the acidity of the coke or is there baking soda added as a filler?

It is certainly possible that an amino acid could have a chemical reation to something in the diet coke.

    cause of taurine reaction

the cause of this is the reaction of the citric acid with the taurine. It is caused by nucleation of the diet coke. my advice is to add the taurine in smaller quantities to avoid the "fountain" effect i take it you saw, you could also try adjusting the Ph of the coke but that is something you would have to experiment with. it shouldn't be a filler providing the taurine was bought as 100% and comes from a relaible source.

if you need any further help drop me an email

    Hope that helped

    Ben
