    Creatine use

I was told by my trainer to not use creatine. He said I wont be able to achieve the defined "cut" look because it bloats your physique due to the water retention. Has anyone heard this before?

With creatine monohydrate, you will hold water. But not so much that you will lose your "cut". The pros far outweigh the cons.

Yes you will get water retention, but but it will flush out, say you gain about 8 pounds in two weeks the next week you will lose about 4 from the water retention decreasing.

thats how it worked for me anyways

I agree with your trainer if you are trying to walk around at all times with the most defined look possible, but the only time a person typically cares about this is when walking out onto a bodybuilding stage. And the benefits you will get in regards to size and strength from creatine use (especially a superior version, i.e. TriCreatine Malate which is used in Maximum Pump) makes it a worthwhile supplement to use. In fact, aside of protein and a multiple vitamin it is the most basic supplement in any athlete's aresenal.

Instead of starting a whole new thread I will see if I can get an answer to my question thru this thread. Even though I didnt post this question I thank you all for the info. I have a bit of a different twist on a similar question: Im in a 10 week "contest" at my gym to see who can lose the most bodyfat and lose the most weight. They also count up all the cardio minutes you do. I have cut out creatine completely for the time being. Assuming I take in enough of the RIGHT calories can I still maintain most of my muscle mass? I know I will lose a little muscle with the reduction of calories and major increase in cardio for next couple of months...if I were to stay on the creatine until the last couple of weeks of the contest would I decrease my loss of muscle? My goal is to lose about 30 pounds of FAT and then go back and pack on as much muscle as possible...not a problem with my size/genetics. Im 6'1 and weigh in at 280+ right now at about 26% body fat. With my structure I looked "thin" at around 220lbs so my goal is to get down to around 255 and the pack on as much muscle as I can. These numbers are realistic for me...last summer I weighed in at around 245 without the lean body mass that I have now.

only if you want to increase muscle pumps, improve strength & performance, increase lean muscle mass, increase protein synthesis, increase vascularity, increase stamina & energy, reduce lactic acid build up and speed up muscle recovery.

    otherwise, no.
