How often should I be drinking protein shakes?

I've ordered some ON 100% Whey Protein and plan on mixing that with cottage cheese, oats, strawberries, bananas, whathaveyou. My question is, how often should I be drinking these shakes?

My initial thought was in the morning before I head off to school, both pre-workout and post-workout, and before I go to bed. I won't be taking the protein four times every day; I only hit the gym probably four times out of the week. My question is; is that too much protein?

Also, when are the times where I should mix in oats and whatnot? Should I mix oats into my pre-workout and bedtime shake? Don't they slow down the absorption process somewhat? Then should I take almost a pure-protein shake for my post-workout to get it into my body? When is it best to take cottage cheese?

A lot of questions, yes I know. I've done a fair share of research too - it gets confusing as it seems I read one article, then another article contradicts half of what was said in article 1, and so on.

It matters how much protien you get by food and how much you want to supplement, lets say your goal is 200 grams of protein and you get 150 from food then get 50 from the supplement. most people drink like 3 a day. Make sure they are spread out like one morning one post workout one before bed.

First off bro ur bodyweight has a lot to do with it. The minimum protein total each day should be one gram per lb of bodyweight. If your "on" then it should def be higher. Durin a heavy bulk cycle u should be doin 2 grams per lb of bodyweight. Use as much of the powder as you need to get to the numbers u want in addition to reg food. P
