    Casein vs. Whey

Currently all I take as far as protein is ON's 100% Whey Protein. However, after doing some research and asking around it seems as though I should only be taking whey protein when I want the protein to get directly into my body.

In other instances (such as at bedtime or when I won't have a meal for a while) it sounds as though I should be taking casein protein as it digests much slower.

Is this conclusion correct? I've ordered some of ON's casein protein after liking their whey protein.

That is the Jist of it.

However you could have something like Cottage Cheese (Casein) at night and some natty pb or flax oil to delay gastric emptying.

If money is an issue you could just use your whey protein with a fat like Natty Pb or fish oil or flax

yes that is definitely correct... casein protein is a lot more slowly digested than your whey protein... which is why u want to take it before bed to help prevent catabolism... also, before workout may be a good idea because your body is using energy like crazy and after glycogen stores are depleted... fats are targeted and protein sources such as your MUSCLES!!! ... so yah.. just my $0.02 PS: cottage cheese is dense with casein protein... probably cheaper IMO ... good luck bro

Cafeful on the milk! You do not want too many carbs before bed. That'll keep ya from pumping GH when you sleep

Make sure you get some good fats before bed as well!

I would use casein over cottage cheese any day of the week for night time use.

Ick...ON's chocolate-flavored protein tastes like shit compared to their chocolate whey protein.

powdered casein has a higher bioavailibilty and is more cost effective.

eating 2 cups of cottage cheese every night to get in 50+ grams of protein gets old fast for me

LAM, do you think micellar casein is worth the extra cost compared to regular casein?

i usually have 1 scoop of whey, 200g of cottage cheese on WW toast, tbsp. of peanut butter and 3 fish oil caps

reckon that is ok? or should i add some casein in there? and which type of casein is best? (calcium casinate, or milk concentrate?)

maybe i could replace my scoop of whey with this? or use 2 scoops of this instead of the rest of my bedtime snack in an emergency situation?

    Bedtime Formula
    50% Milk Protein Concentrate
30% Whey Protein Concentrate 75 (NZ)
    20% Calcium Caseinate

The two highest yielding proteins available mixed in one formula offering you a staggering 28.5 grams of protein per 30g serving (dry basis). The two different digesting properties of whey & calcium (milk) naturally taper the protein to your body. This is because whey is absorbed by the body much more quickly than calcium (milk) based proteins.

This is an excellent formula for anyone wanting to build lean muscle without "bulking" due to the very high protein levels and extremely low carbohydrate\lactose, fat & sugar content. This is the ultimate protein only shake.

depends on your budget. you can use calcium caseinate or the cheaper solution which is milk protein isolates

Try enteric coated fish oil caps, they are dissolved in the small intestine, not the stomach. As a result there's no fish burbs/reflux.
