Galyons (beofre they were bought out, i think they're a part of dick's sporting goods now)

sometimes had good deals on weights. I know, it's amazing, even though Galyons is amazingly overpriced, watch out for their specific sales, they'll soemtimes throw out amazing holiday sales or somehting along those lines.

My friend got 165 in weights and the bar for 130, seems lieka decnt deal to me, and that was all of about 3 months ago.

You can find a 300lb. olympic set regularly priced for $129.00. Are you looking for free weights or machines?

Second hand sports, and other retailers typically have some good deals. I'm not sure what you're going to get for $500, but for the same money you could get an olympic set, some heavy dumbbells, and a rack for bench/squat. Watch your local newspaper, too. Seems like exercise gear is the first thing to go when folks are cleaning out the house.
